I have a Pioneer DEH-P9400mp sitting on a shelf just itching to be used again. Love Pioneer HU's. last single DIN I used was the Kenwood XX0-01d, sold it and now run a Kenwood Double DIN DDX719 in my 2001 Camaro SS.

I installed this unit in a friend of mines Olds Bravada back in '04. He had gotten it for free from his little brother and neither of us knew anything about it.

I was shocked with how good it sounded. No amplifiers used either, only the internal amplification. Nice sounding deck for sure.

That’s a beauty. Miss mine, it was a beast. I ended up getting an error message, it happened when it was hot, and the cd player was going. My settings was set for the volume was around 55, and with a few changes it would be around 40. With max at 40 45, the sound was so clean, my tweeters would be almost piercing my ears, and the lows would be like there was weights as speakers.

Love seeing more frequent videos and it would be awesome to see some head units on the amp dyno especially some of the older black model RF headunits and some of the old alpines that had some big time fusing on them

I had this radio pretty much all my radio have been Pioneer because of how clean the sound and the equalizer and crossover

I would enjoy watching you check head units as much as amps.

I loved Alpine HU's back in the day and still regret getting rid of my 8 crystal. After I got my first Premier though... I could never go back. Functionality is way better for me and the difference in distortion is so minimal, I doubt I could hear the difference between them.

I've owned 3 Pioneer head units and loved all of them. First one was used and I paid more than I should have but the second and third were a bargain. I currently have the AVH X5500 BHS and it has a clean signal at 39/40 volume. It's feeding the signal to an RF P45 25 to life (looks just like the 150 in this video) powering 4 RF power series 6.5" coaxial 2 way speakers and it sounds great for the money. It's loud enough to keep up with my sub stage that's capable of 140+ db on music while still sounding clean.

I think Pioneer is a good starting point for a head unit. My old one sounded awesome on the 4 Focal speakers it was powering when I gave it away.

im using a premier 860 in my truck, has 6.5v preouts and has the ability to be wired active to speakers, i like it but not as updated as all this new stuff

I still like Pioneer and have one in my car. But I would still choose Alpine at the other day. I do remember these models and didn’t think they were that great at the time.

The rear might be good for a 8 inch or 10 inch Kicker comp single coil... no where near enough for me but some people can tolerate one little sub.
