Losing Your Hair? Say Hello to Keratin

One of the biggest concerns all of us face at some point in our lives, whether due to age, stress, medical issues, nutrient deficiency, or otherwise, is hair loss. According to the American Hair Loss Association, 85% of males will experience hair loss or thinning throughout their lives, and 40% of women suffer noticeable hair loss and thinning by the age of forty. These are quite scary numbers, there’s no doubt about it, but fear not: there is hope, and that is of course the topic of this video.
I have heard about people experiencing temporary hair loss when starting Keto, and while it’s rare, it was certainly a cause for concern and I felt the need to share some amazing tips that can have remarkable effects on hair restoration. I want to share with you the magic of a protein called keratin.
Keratin is a protein that we see when we look at each other; it’s our hair, our nails, our skin, our epidermis. Many of us are already aware of the word, we’ve heard it before or seen it on a bottle of shampoo at one time or another, but marketing tactics aside, keratin is a truly remarkable and powerful protein, and one we can actually harness and utilize for our benefits, going beyond hair restoration, keratin can heal wounds, retain hydration in our skin, and strengthen the epidermis.
Now, here’s the best part: you can incorporate keratin into your daily life through a number of ways. You can ingest it through certain foods which I talk about in the video and you can take it in supplement form. And here’s even more exciting news… Studies show that by taking 500mg of keratin per day in supplement form, you can reduce hair loss by up to 30%! Not only does it restore hair but it adds shine, thickness, and strength of the hair follicles. I’m sure you can understand why I’m so excited by this miraculous fibrous protein and wanted to share this information.
Keratin is affected by insulin levels and there seems to be a direct correlation, so I would love to hear your comments relating to beginning Keto and experiencing hair loss. Certainly if this is the case, then it is just another of many reasons why we should be incorporating keratin into our diets and ensuring our keratin levels are stable prior to starting a Keto lifestyle.
I hope this video and the information within is informative and helpful and please be sure to give us a like if you want to see more. This is yet another of many areas of nutrients and overall health we wish to explore in future videos.
Thanks as always for watching, don’t forget to hit subscribe and the little notification bell, in order to receive alerts every time we post new videos. We have lots of exciting content coming up and you do not want to miss out.
To your health and happiness!

A few things that actually helped to control my hairfall include: (1) I stopped wearing ponytails because it leds to tension damage. (2) I started massaging my hair and scalp twice a week with liitleextra cocoonnion hair oil while bending over & holding my head upside down to allow blood flow to the scalp. (3) Covering my head while moving out to safeguard my hair from dust and pollution. (4) Using soft shampoo again from liittleextra only to cleanse my hair.

I started Keto 9/1/20 and supplemented with keratin, biotin, collagen, krill oil and other supplements. Also, I tracked my macros daily and made sure I consumed plenty of protein. My hair started increased shedding in mid November and accelerated through December and did not decrease until the end of January. I was shocked! I had my thyroid labs done because I thought I had protected against the increased hair shedding with all of my supplements and was thinking something else was going on, but nope, all my lab levels were normal. Soooo, even though you may do everything to prevent the increased hair shedding it may happen anyway. I can tell the increased shedding over 2 months decreased my hair density. Since the shedding has returned to normal I am hoping I have regrowth of all the hair I lost. I’ve lost a total of 30 lbs and am within 5 lbs of my goal weight. I am eating whole foods and have eliminated processed foods and sugar cane. I am baking almond bread, making my own keto crackers and home cooking our meals. It is more time consuming, but after getting recipes lined up and a plan for menu planning, shopping and cooking it’s gotten easier. My whole family is benefitting and I feel it’s worth the investment of time even with my hair taking a hit! All of this to share for people experiencing similar challenges and give encouragement!

Don't confuse keratin with kreatin!
With regard to highering your levels of keratin in your body you ought to eat food rich in vitamin A because that is what stimulates the production of keratin! There is no food containing keratin!! But there is food containing kreatin on the other hand!
