Diamine Inkvent Calendar 2023: Day 23

Hello my friends, it's that time of year again! Diamine released their Inkvent calendar for 2023, and it's purple. As usual, my plan is to upload a new video every day of each new Inkvent bottle of ink, with swatches of that ink on a variety of papers, and when I have time, I'll also provide some writing samples and maybe some art work (such as it is) if I can manage it. There is a real chance this year that I will be too busy to finish the calendar, so wish me luck.

Diamine has added a new type of inks this year in the Inkvent Calendar, and they've taken one away as well. I'll cover the new one when we get to it, but the missing category is "Sheening Inks", which was probably my personal favorite, so that's a bit of a shame.

I'm not an orange fan, but this one is so close to an earth orange, like a rich, deep burnt sienna, that I can see plenty of uses for it. Your response to your painting cracked me up. Yes... tigers are really hard to draw or paint!. I've had far too many botanical paintings that started out as something else. 😀But it was still a cool painting and really showed off the variety of depths that this color brings.

I like this shade, and remain more convinced that “standard“ won’t be replaced with glittering shimmer in my ink pen world.

I like this orange colour. Krishna caramel is with me. You rightly said, it’s quite close.

That ink is closer to Monteverde Fireopal than all the other inks you compared.

Nice color in writing, but I'm not as enthused by the swatches. Perhaps it is because the body of the color is supported by the brown, which I can't really see as being so dominant in the lettering as it is more obvious in the swatch samples to the point of being almost heavy handed.

I had the same thought when I saw the bottle, an other red… but was really pleased with the color, it’s all pumpkin and spices! but what Christmasy subject to draw to test it?!

This one was so good! Went straight into a pen for me! I put it in a Leonardo pura in orange with 14k medium nib. It looks great on the page!

I really like this ink color and shading. Looks like you were using some nifty negative painting techniques--nice! I also noticed your camel and really lovely ornaments. I'm not familiar with the Yusari notebooks but will try to find some info. Have a safe trip to your sister's, and let the Christmas party start! Thank you!
