I really enjoyed this when I read it, too. I grew up in Los Angeles, and even though I didn't ever spend much time in the downtown library, I was filled with nostalgia when I read this book, and I kept thinking about the little branch that was my library the whole time I was growing up.

We read this as part of a book club last year, and I enjoyed most of it, while others couldn't stand it! There were so many different elements, a surprising book, indeed.

I love libraries and crime so this sounds great to me. I grew up in a disadvantaged area which consisted of a majority refugee population so community facilities like libraries were so important and wonderful. Home access to the internet and personal electronic devices weren't really a thing until I was in my mid-late teens so I spent a lot of time as a young person reading and doing activities at the library. I still go to libraries from time to time and love how welcoming they are. I've heard that in some places in the US you can even borrow tools and equipment if you have a library card? That's amazing. I'm a little worried about local/ small libraries closing since access to books has become so easy online and people are becoming more tech literate. Most people I see there are 50+.

Btw if you didn't realise, your video title says "Self Sisters" rather than "Shelf Sisters".
