Finally someone has the courage to explain how to be a real photographer. I have had it all wrong ALL my life. Thank you Peter 😺

Followed your advice and threw my E-M1 Mark II and 60 mm 2.8 macro lens in the trash can, the place where they belong. I immediately felt my photographing skills skyrocketed. Thanks a lot for the tip.🙏

Full Frame ?! you´re a Madman ! the pros only use Medium Format.
The only Exeption is Leica, because its expensive, everything is better when its expensive.

I have a couple of tips of my own I'd like to share.

1. Always use a tripod You'll never be more than a snap shooter if you don't use a tripod.

2. Always use a very slow shutter speed when photographing moving water so that it becomes a featureless blur (see 1. above).

3. Always strive for the maximum bokeh possible, because this will make any photograph more appealing.

4. Ignore all the traditional rules of composition. Rules are made to be broken.

5. And my favorite... always use raw. Jpeg is for amateurs and heretics. Your photo editing program can never fix those little mistakes in exposure or composition you might make. With raw you never have to worry about getting the exposure right. Any error can be fixed if you use raw.

Oh, and I like your advice about a "full frame" camera. I bought my Sony α7II specifically and exclusively to use with my old Olympus film camera lenses. Why? Even though I know I would have gotten excellent results with my MFT cameras, on a full frame camera my 18 mm lens remains an 18 mm, rather than becoming an unimpressive 36 mm.

Thanks for your great videos.

And you kept a "straight face" the whole time! Short and to the point....one of your best!

# 8: Buy the biggest backpack you can find. You need to carry all your gear around all the time. Because you need to change lenses all the time.

Thanks Peter! I am genuinly inspired to go out with my camera by the underlying message of this video. It takes away some perfectionist pressure and brings back the fun and the personality.

Shutterbuttonpusher...you had me there :) 🤣

Great post!

My extra tip: always take with you a printed depth of field table for avoiding areas in your photo to become out of focus. Then measure the distances manually with a folding rule. It is very important to have all your subjects perfectly in focus!

What a fantastic video. How very true and appropriate those bad tips are. I will definitely implement them. 👌😀

Another tip is to remind your subject how much your equipment is worth. It will legitimize you as a photographer and put your subject at ease knowing that if you've spent that much money, the photos have to be good.

Funny video, Peter 😀 Good points. I spend a lot of time watching your videos, that makes me better or worse? 🤣 Just kidding of course. I still manage to take some photographs when you are offline, don’t worry 😀 Have a great time.

This is the best video I’ve ever watched about photography. Thank you for making it.

Your subtle sarcasm of how many "photographers" and camera manufacturers (and I think Olympus is guilty of this too) talk or write about their equipment and approach to making an image is sublime. Nicely done!

OMG laughed my head off at these. Thanks for a great video Peter. Unfortunately the ones who really espouse these “pro tips” actually believe them. Have a happy holiday season!
