Off topic. But, being from the Unites States, your accent is very soothing. Lol. I was so distracted by your narration and voice that I had to watch the video again to listen to the knowledge you were sharing, hah.

Good job! This is really the best video about Formica I have ever seen! I really like that you take much time to produce interesting and high quality stuff! I'm gonna support you 'til the end :)

This short video deserves an award. Info was bang on and even taught me a few new things. The footage you caught of the ants on the surface of the nests in spring was better than that captured by the bbc for a david attenborough special. I didn't realize until now the sheer numbers that the ants come out in to warm the nests as in the D A documentary they didn't emerge in those numbers. Seriously good vid and ik it takes time to get that quality but can we get a few more uploads?

When do they have nuptial flights in Finland? I cant find anywhere anything that says when they have nuptial flights.

i dont know exactly what species of wood ant it is but near where i live theres a pretty big colony which is crazy because wood ants are endangered in my country also thanks alot for the part at 3:10 because i always wondered why they always seem to only walk out en mass during early spring for like 2 weeks then pretty much dissapear for the rest of the year

I have 2 Formica Fusca Queens with Larvae. I can't wait for them to become workers!

Saw them life cause there is a mount a five minute bike ride from my home. These girls are massive, almost as big as small wasps.
Also wild boars sometimes poke the hills to purposly piss them off so they spray acid into their fur. A good way to get rid of parasites.

When America said no chemical weapons, I wonder if they meant ants too🤔🤔

Are there other types of Wood ant? these are one of my favorite types of ant, we have wood ants that look just like the ones in your video, but here in Northern Wisconsin USA.

Wow thats an impressive video for beeing swedish ants and well told. How impressive they heat up the nest from the inside. I live in Norway and i have never seen the sunbathing carpenter ants (even thought im raised on a farm and toyed alot with ants as a kid). Question: Do you know of any antspecies in our country that has just finished their nuptial flight and is harvestable and easy to keep and where to look? Maybe just started a micronest? (New to antfarming but already built my ytong farm and got all testtubes etc so ready for my first queen)

3:21 I saw a colony of western thatching ants doing this. I thought it was so weird. But now that I think about it, it was in early spring so they were probably sunbathing.
