I loved this layout! I tend to get into moods for certain genres and this helped so much! Especially since you did a mix of YA and Adult. This was a brilliant idea, and I may have to borrow it for my blog! Please post more videos on genres. Thanks!

I've heard of a lot of those books but haven't read many if any of them. You did get me thinking of other dystopia type books I've read that you may like, if you haven't already read them.

There's Children of the Dust by Louise Lawrence, which has three connected stories about a nuclear holocaust and it's effects on members of a family (not my best synopsis but it's a good ya read). 10 Futures by Michael Pryor is a anthology about 10 possible futures some dystopian like some Utopian like. Blackout also by Michael Pryor is set in the aftermath of a electromagetic pulse.

Winter of Fire by Sherryl Jordan, The Game (aka Invitation to the Game), Devil on my Back and The Dream Catcher by Monica Hughes are also good dystopian reads if you can find them. All of the above books are YA. I think I really need to go read some of the books you've recommended when I get though my current tbr stack. Great video though.

The Forsaken cover's absolutely stunning!
And I was a bit reluctant to start The Selection because I've heard so many different things about it that I don't even know what to think of it.
Aaaaand I didn't know battle royale was a book. I knee it was a movie (a hardcore one that I wanted to watch since it is pretty iconic I think).
I really enjoy genre recommendations! I got a lot about this video ^^

I liked The Selection fairly well as a fluffy read, too. I didn't love the second book and haven't read the last book and I'm not feeling like I NEED to, but I might some time. Wool was quite good as well. Shockingly I still have yet to read Battle Royale but I very much want to. That blood, gore, and violence is a bit off-putting though. Unwind was a really interesting idea but unfortunately I didn't enjoy it as much as you did. Ashes sounds great! And so does Forsaken. And of course 1984 is fantastic. Fun video. Thanks!

Thank you for this. I hope you do more of these, I really enjoyed it :) The Forsaken sounds really interesting. I read the Selection and I did like the first book. I'd reccomend stopping there, however, as I found the other two books too unbelievable, cliché and an overly annoying main character. I loved 1984 and Unwind and would reccomend those to anybody who is interested in concepts of society that at first are made up but are true in parts already or could become true. Plus good writing, plotlines and characters.

theres a lot of dystopian out there I never have heard of.  glad I watched the video and learned of these.  forsaken does sound pretty cool as well as the others.  only ones I have read are the hunger games and I enjoyed those.  the maze runner movie was really good too.  have heard of the wool books and sound interesting.  other recommendations I have heard of for dystopian are the matched books and the divergent books I have heard some praise of.  great video!

I've only heard of 3 of these books, lol.  Yikes.  I almost hit the stop button when you said the first book was like The Bachelor. =)  The Battle Royale movie was so much fun and weird o_O.  Unwind has such a horrifying premise!  I kind of liked The Maze Runner movie.  In fact, a lot of the YA dystopian movies, I end up liking.  The Forsaken is basically Australia 200 years ago, ha.  I should really finally read 1984.    Great video Kait!  I think the only dystopian books I've read are The Giver and The Hunger Games.  Definitely a genre I should explore more.

Could anyone recommend any dystopian books without romance? :)
