Activision Publishing, Inc. is an American video game publisher based in Santa Monica, California. The company was founded as Activision, Inc. on October 1, 1979 in Sunnyvale, California (United States of America), by former Atari game developers upset at their treatment by Atari in order to develop their own games for the Atari 2600 home video game console. Activision was the first independent, third-party, console video game developer. The video game crash of 1983, in part created by several new companies following in Activision's footsteps, hurt Activision's position in console games and forced the company to diversify into games for home computers. After a management shift, with CEO Jim Levy replaced by Bruce Davis, the company renamed itself to Mediagenic and branched out into business software applications. Mediagenic quickly fell into debt, and the company was bought by Bobby Kotick and a small group of investors around 1991. Activision is well-known for their Call of Duty and Guitar Hero series, which they began releasing in the 2000s.

Great logo history, or should I say, a smashing blast from the past! Activision has worked on many awesome games, including Call of Duty, Guitar Hero, Tony Hawk's, Spyro, Pitfall, Crash Bandicoot, and so on. It's pretty awesome how they're still using the 2001 logo to this day, and it was interesting to see logo variations that I've never seen, including the 1985-88 logo, the Shrek The Third variant, and the Planktons Robotic Revenge variant. I also found some of the transitions you added very creative, for example, the transition from Pitfall: The Lost Expedition to Shrek 2, and Over the Hedge: Hammy Goes Nuts to Spider-Man 3.

I also remember seeing some of the Activision Shrek games on a video from Nathaniel Bandy, one of my favorite YouTubers of all time.

Anyways, here are my favorites: idents from 1979-91 (Commercial variants, Pitfall - Colecovision), 2002, 1984-present (Deathtrack - DOS, Grave Yardage - DOS, Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure - Sega CD, Shrek 2 - Game Boy Advance, Shark Tale - Game Boy Advance, Shrek 2: Beg For Mercy - Game Boy Advance, Shrek The Third - Game Boy Advance, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa - Nintendo DS, SpongeBob SquarePants: Plankton's Robotic Revenge - Nintendo DS), 1995-97, 1997-2003, and 2001-present (Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro - PlayStation, Lost Kingdoms - Nintendo GameCube, Call of Duty: United Offensive - Microsoft Windows, Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events - Sony PlayStation 2, Call of Duty: World at War - Microsoft Windows, DJ Hero 2 - Sony PlayStation 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops III - Sony PlayStation 4, Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy - Sony PlayStation 4, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled - Nintendo Switch, Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time - PlayStation 4). Looking forward to your logo history on Rysher Entertainment.

I grew up with this variant of Vigilante 8th: 2nd Offense. But it was on the N64! 4:08.

I’m surprised Activision had never changed their logo for 41 years.

Nice history btw.

Activision is another controversial publisher, known for microtransactions worse than Ubisoft, actually their monetization is way worse than others, cross gen has to be bought through a bundle, unfair remasters, having to buy chicken for a video game, and worse unfair working conditions, and well, the r word at Activision-Blizzard
