You talk about riddler being to "jokery" in the 66' show, but I always felt every villain was to "jokery" on that show LOL. All the villians where just such goofball with the up most silly schemes. I love campy Batman haha

One thing I never liked when they reprint the killing joke is, why in gods name do they always remove the yellow oval on Batmans chest, seriously. He dosen't stop wearing that suit until after the No Man's Land Saga, I don't know why Brian removed that, but I think DC should seriously consider bringing that back with future reprints.

Why would anyone want to look at this book? It is missing an entire chapter in the history of Batman, not a single cover of Batman or Detective during the 1950's. I saw a print of the Batmobile from the 50's. This may not have been the most popular "version" of Batman but it still needs to be covered (Batman mostly fighting Aliens from Outer Space.) We get pages and pages of the Adam West Batman clearly the most silly version of Batman, and pages and pages of the 3 Batman films of the 90's when only the first 1989 version is worth looking at. Too bad, I had been thinking about purchasing the book, but this guy turns every page and clearly some stuff is missing.

Okay, there is a massive misconception that the killing joke was not meant to be cannon, this is completley false the killing joke was always meant to be cannon from the begining. While writer Grant Morrison supports this theory, they had no involvement with the creation of the killing joke. There are numerous refference to the killing joke in the death in the family story arc, which was published a few months after killing joke. Also there was a Batgirl one shot that was published the same month as the killing joke, as you know barbra was paralyzed and that lead to her becoming oracle, you see DC was prepared to take Batgirl out of the picture, that one shot featured barbras last mission as batgirl, she quit even before the killing joke, the killing joke was released during a time when I would say DC was not treating they're female superheroes well at all, but I don't wanna make this comment ranty, point is the killing joke was always cannon, and that this whole thing is a massive misconception. Oh and as for Joker stoping laughing when Batman is laughing, Alan Moore has said multiple times that the ending was meant to be a cathardic molment shared between two people who realize they are traped in a continus cycle, batman didn't kill the joker, my guess is joker just stopped laughing because he wanted to savor the molment of Batman laughing.

Batman art books aren't very good, buy Nolan's Batman Begins and The Dark Knight lacked art, there were no previous ideas and the script included in Dark Knight?
I want art, art books have to be bought after seeing them first, page by page. Or one could be disappointed

The original Batman serial from 1943 can make for an uncomfortable watch these days because the main villain is an incredibly offensive japanese stereotype, intrestingly they were gonna have the joker instead, they even released posters with the joker on them. If you ask me they should've gone with the Joker, would've made for a more comfortable watch.
I hate nationalism.
