On the last corner I scrapped with the slider on the floor, which was common at the time in corners/roads where I was comfortable. To "you should lean more" - I was not wearing sliders and I was literally centimetres from the floor, sure not in every corner, but in the last corner. I did not ride to the limit 99.9% of the time, like most normal people. Also, this video is 7 years old and sending messages to the past is not that useful.. When I was wearing my knee sliders, I would always scrap them on the floor in my favourite corners, and I literally leaned to the point of low siding at quite high speeds, which made me lose this motorcycle and by miracle I only had some scars and a few days in bed as a result. You cannot tell my body position on this video, but you can on the suggested video :D

The video does not have sound, because it was filmed with a cheap action cam, inside a box. I know how important audio is for video immersion, but I cannot change the past and I did not have €€ for more, nor the knowledge or the video skills :V

The clothes - Some American Dads (and guys from other high income places) seem to mind my clothes. I was almost full geared, only the jeans are not motorcycle-specific, and I actually am always way more geared than the average rider in Lisbon. Those things, like everything, are cultural and related to social conditions. The weather is hot mostly, and people use motorcycles here as a tool and not as an expensive toy like in most high income and snowy or rainy nations. I don't have a car, this was my "car". I hardly had €€ to keep gas on the tank, oil on the engine and rubber on the tyres, so could/can't afford a collection of fly Kevlar jeans to go to College. Where I live the minimum wage is less than 3€/h after taxes, so it's really uncommon to see someone using armoured pants, specially when you are going to college/work. In the same way, no one in Africa or Indonesia, for example, uses gloves, with good reason. Appreciate your concern, but not everything is the USA. Hope you understand :) and if not, come live in Lisbon for a few years - it's quite in- and then comment. Maybe we can get some wine together :D

EDIT: The boots are not Sneakers, American Dads. They are Dainese Street Bikers WP. If you don't now at what you are looking at, save yourself the opportunity to look stupid

once you touch pegs you should still have a couple inches of lean, if your pegs fold. also hanging off the bike will dramatically decrease your lean angle giving you that much more tire to turn faster on! also sick vid!

For the unexperienced, if you lean to the edge of your tire you can feel the tire edge start rolling and bumping around, that's how you know not to lean more if you haven't scraped prg or anything yet.
I used to ride Ducati. Some of the narrowest bikes around

Reminds me of my first time taking a corner on a cruiser after being raised on sportbikes on my street riding background. Worked at a bike shop and they let me take a VTX1300C out for lunch, and man I took the first corner and hit the peg so hard it picked the back wheel up for a second, skipped it over some, then landed and picked traction back up again. About needed to change my underpants after that 🙃
Lesson learned tho, never took a corner on a cruiser like that again and learned to actually put my feet back further on cruiser pegs so my heels would be lower so my heel on my shoe would scrape first to let me know I was getting too close

That sweet ride over Lisbon arches entrance :)

If it’s a sport touring the foot pegs are lower compared to a supersport or liter bike. My buddy has the same issue and can’t get full use out of the tires. Rear sets should help with that

It all depends on your riding ability, control and also what road you're on to haha

I tried leaning on a 90° turn, the exhaust was too low so it scrapes then the bike lost grip, it was a shame and i started dodging that turn eversince, prefered to to straight instead giving me a small side to side lean fun

Remove the nut at the foot peg. Either #8 or #10 spanner can do the job. The reason your footpeg is scrapping the floor is not the bike at its max lean angle. It's your suspension. The rear sag is too much and your rebound and compression everything is out. Increase the preload and compression. The rebound u can hold 1st and see whats the bike reaction before u touch the rebound.

i know you said this is old but if you havnt already its time for some track time, body position is key, you never want to be at max lean, and with better rear sets you can get more.

A friend from back in the 80's needed to do it on an old Kaw 1000 without folding pegs. Stood his bike right up and sent him through the woods. A tree took his arm off at the shoulder. All riders should safely try and learn their max lean on their bike for that time it becomes needed in a split-second.

Papa Yam would be proud seeing you channel your inner Rossi.

The first thing you gotta do at that point is stop leaning further

Good reason to change to one up and the rest down.

Awesome vid my dude, now youve reached the max angle that your bike can lean it's time to work on body positioning and eventually knee down so that you can go faster without having to have the pegs on the ground 🤙✊
