If you can't dig this then you are in sad shape. This powerful, haunting, and uplifting music. Actually, this is spiritual music. I could listen to this for just about forever.

The best thing Coltrane ever recorded in my opinion

The unrelenting drums and piano (proto-Can), the bass that turns into a cello then back into a bass, the brass wiping all over it, even the bloody flute. God I love this music! I could loop this forever.

First time I heard this song on XM radio. Driving on flat, straight HWY 64 in eastern North Carolina headed towards Raleigh. The song kept getting better and better. 18 minutes of pure, unadulterated coolness.

RIP McCoy Tyner. Some of his best playing ever on this one.

Just more than beautiful.
The double bass is just out of this world.

Just a masterpiece. My favorite Coltrane album.

The drums and piano converse throughout the whole piece. The solo of the bass(s) is something supreme. Another reality.

Sounds of India and Spain and Eastern thought with a touch of Western all combined to make such a awesome powerful song.one of the greatest in man's history

Can't stop listening to this. Words don't do justice to describe.

Ballistic missile of a track. Elvin doesn’t play the same lick twice. A wild and complicated ballet.

I heard this beautiful composition of John Coltrane's in 1968, in another country (while in high school), before I made Oregon my new home!! I fell in love with Jazz, when I was only 4 1/2 and on spring break (1st grade). After being a victim of a serious collision, I became comatose, and was taken to a hospital where my aunt was the president. She ordered her nursing staff, to play Jazz all day, in my room (from her own LP collection).. In one month I was perfect in every way, except for my newly acquired addiction to Jazz 😊 Please forgive any errors in this comment, as I did it on a Very Cheap phone, without my glasses!! Oh for those of you who may not already know, there's a very fine version of this by "Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra"!! It's also done with 2 Bass players, as part of the large personal.

That sustain on the trumpet starting around 3:37 is totally great.

Absolutely the best! A Love Supreme has 4 parts all shorter than this, but I think the true spirit and strength of Coltrane’s ultimate gift to our world is this masterpiece
