The Seeds - Can't Seem to Make You Mine - 1965

I can't seem to make you mine
Kissing all around all the time
You fly around like a bee
Hurtin' everything you see
I try everything I know
To make you wanna love me so
The only thing you do
Is try to put the hurt on me

Can't you see what you're doin' to me
You fill my heart with misery
With every breath and step I take
I'm more in love with you

I can't go on like this
A little bit of love and not one kiss
I've gotta have your love every day
Love that's real and will stay
I can't seem to make you mine
I can't seem to make you mine

I can't seem to make you mine
I can't seem to make you mine

Come back baby, 'cause I'm all alone
Come back darlin', 'cause I need your love
Come back, 'cause I wanna love ya
Girl, I wanna love ya tonight

The Seeds - Can't Seem to Make You Mine - 1965

I can't seem to make you mine
I can't seem to make you mine
I can't seem to make you mine

A classic, rocking song with a sound that was the epitome of the 60's rock one still holds just as strong today as it did back then !

Dang, still gives me chills. Bought the album when I was 10, babysitting $, and Pushing Too Hard.. man, I'm pushing 70, ain't it cool we was raised up on bitchin music from the Delta Blues onwards?

Those trebly guitar riffs at the start, where the guy uses the tremolo bar, making it sound like a combination of surf and psychedelia -- I always thought was so cool. I got their CD compilation during the 1990's, and loved that sound. I used to try to imitate that guitar bit on my guitar. Could never quite duplicate it. As for the song itself, it should have been a bigger hit... but you could say that about a lot of great songs.

On this day in 1967 {May 20th} the Seeds performed* "Can't Seem To Make You Mine" on the Dick Clark ABC-TV network Saturday-afternoon program 'American Bandstand'...
At the time the song was at #49 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; one week later it would peak at #41{for 2 weeks} and it spent 7 weeks on the Top 100...
The Los Angeles-based quartet had three other Top 100 records; "Pushin' Too Hard" {#36}, "Mr. Farmer" {#86}, and "A Thousand Shadows" {#72}, all four records charted in 1967...
* On the same 'Bandstand' show they also performed "Painted Doll", it was track five of side one on their 1967 album, 'Future'; and of course it's available on You Tube...

I had this picture cover 45 RPM when It came out I was able to see The Seeds in San Francisco they headlined a show which featured a battle of the bands, local bands. One of the first and best concerts I saw. The Seeds were great, one memory was of their bass player's fast strumming intro which sounded like a loud helicopter...cool.

One of the greatest garage tracks of all-time from one of the greatest space cases of all-time Sky Saxon (or Sunlight Arlick if you only know him by his Father Yod-christened alias or were a member of the Source Family with him)

But I think this video is slightly out of tuned/a bit sharp then the original recording
