Colorado Hiking. The Holy Cross Wilderness. This loop hike is a great way to experience Colorado. We trekked out from Fancy Lake Trailhead and looped around to the Missouri Lakes trail for a 2 night adventure.

Thanks for watching! Cheers.

I really enjoyed this Rob! Longer trips are great to plan for but these shorter trips are a lot easier to fit into our schedules. Very good point about convenience items. Thanks for bringing us along, brother!

Such a beautiful section of trail. I passed by Fancy Lake but never got to stay there... Nicely put together my friend...

This was one of my favorite hikes when I started exploring alpine lakes several years back. It gets quite busy on the weekends in the summer. I'll go back to do another (longer) loop in that wilderness area next year. Looking forward to it.

Rob we have that follower rule discussion all the time in Scouts. Some days, we put the slower
people in front. Others days we make the fast kids wait for us to get a break.

Hey Rob, l've now checked out your channel and l can already tell you that, hands down, you have what it takes to be successful on Youtube, surely more than l do! 😄 l can see you focus more on vlogging and l'm more into the filming aspect. l clearly see your channel will soon be a lot bigger! l bet you'll have 1000 more subs by the end of the year, if not more (l may have 10 more? 10 weird people who are into Arctic ski trips 😅). ATB! 😊

I've never heard of the "followers rule" however when my wife and I are on a hike I'm usually leading. Being faster paced than her, when I stop for a "2 minute break" I have to work hard at remembering to also wait for her to get her break in once she catches up.
That's definitely a beautiful looking camp site above Fancy Lake you had there.
👍👍

... Love Holy Cross Wilderness .... As an alpine angler, ,I have fished many of the high lakes in Holy Cross .. When did you hike this ?? It's possible to get an afternoon pellet snow almost every day even throughout the summer months, , so plan on a little extra clothing ... Beautiful area throughout ..
.. Never heard of a followers rule .... As a Boy Scout back in the '60's, , the hiking rule was to set the pace for the slowest hiker, , you are there as a group (2- or more) show respect and camaraderie to all involved and enjoy the hike as a group .... changing places sometimes helps, , but not everyone is fit for a hike at 12k ft. , ,, and hikes are usually a time for teaching navigation tools, , plant life and conservation, , so everyone needs to stay together and take part in learning If you hike solo, , it's your hike, , go for it
.. Have hiked Colorado mountains for over 50+ years, , never heard that WAG bags are required anywhere in Colorado ... "pack it in -- pack it out" refers to trash, ,,, some areas are heavily abused, , many people don't even dig cat holes and leave toilet paper as "Wild Flowers " for all to see and avoid Have only heard of bear cannisters required in a couple of wilderness areas, , not state wide as some people try to push .... in 50 years hiking Colo. trails, , have only seen 1 bear, , and that was at about 1/2 mile away, going the other way ... in my time in Colo. mtns, ,the bear areas are not trail areas but the masses of people that roam /build are not careful with their trash ... .... LEAVE NO TRACE ....

Thanks for showing us smaller/shorter hikes. Also different areas than the bigger/longer hikes. Did you do anything for the altitude? any thoughts for us MN wanting to do similar hikes?

Great video… that area looks beautiful. .. i like your channel as you focus on lesser mileage hikes.. not everyone is a 20 mile per day hiker . Thanks for sharing .. btw, i see you are back in the Topo”s… did the evo”s not work out ? I tried them and as much as i wanted to keep them they produced too much heat internally for me .

I broke the followers rule in the Smokies with a 1000ft per mile climb. My friends still hate me for that one

I dig a hole with a hand trowel, poop in it, put toilet paper in and bury. Bury my dogs poop also. I'm not packing poop.

I always find it so strange, the lakes with basically zero vegetation around them. It just looks so unnatural to me, even though it's natural.

Im 100% in favor of the Pelton rule if following. If im behind and catch up to the leader, take a break. Im taki g one no matter what. I'm not in favor of what im calling it Sam's rule. He gets out in front quite a ways, stops for a break, I catch up to take a break, and then he heads out right away.

Wag bags are just gross and disgusting. I will find a way or pkace to dig a hole.
