"Your thoughts become your karma becomes your habit becomes your character....and your character becomes your destiny" biggest learning we had lately on the internet.

One thing is certain, Sidhu made more name & money with his story telling than his cricket.

One of my Favorite Indian batsmen Sidhu. He played West Indian bowlers of the backfoot. Scored centuries against the great WI. Saw him in Barbados

Story may not be accurate in terms of date. But try to understand the deep meaning of what he's trying to say. People are so fast to point out mistakes. No body understood the mindset of the champion that he was implying.

By all accounts, during his playing days Sidhu used to be a very quiet individual who spent his off time reading. It's remarkable how he has re-invented himself as this hyper and talkative storyteller character. This story is totally made up by the way, Sachin did not go to WI till 1997 and he did not even start opening till 1994 or so. But Sidhu knows what people want to hear.

Actually he was referring to that 1st odi in 1997

Sachin scored 44 off 43...my view one of his best non 50 innings

Tendulkar was not part of the team in 1989 West indies.Sachin's first series was against Pakistan in 1989 which took place in the month of November. The West Indies series happened in March 1989.

The incident that Siddhu is sharing could be of 1997 West Indies tour when Siddhu used to open with Tendulkar.

I remember that 1997 tour. VVS Laxman, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Venkatesh Prasad, Navjot Singh Sidu. Very entertaining tour.

So this story must be from India’s tour to the West Indies in 1997. (first ODI). Siddhu is mistaken about a lot of details - the year of the series, the fact that Azharuddin wasn’t captain, the fact that India had won the toss and chosen to bat.
However what seems genuine is that siddhu and tendulkar went to open the innings together. Sachin scored 44(43), while siddhu scored 5(17). Also, C Ambrose and Ian Bishop were in the bowling line up for the match.

Tendulkar opened in his second series after Pak series, are you kidding? Sachin started opening in New Zealand late in 91
