"You like that?"

One of the best tracks in this game. It’s still amazing how well the soundtracks were made back then.

Oh man.... Coret. Best CTF map ever in my opinion. That feeling when you left your base, hearing flak cannons and miniguns go off, the odd shock combo, then blood curdling screams, rushing, double tapping the keys to get to the battle, racing through that big room to find you're too late... All that's left are blood stains and gibs.

Picking up a dropped flak cannon you dash through that big door into those branching corridors and meet your first opponent. Some loser called Tamerlane.... you miss with your first shot as he backpedals desperately unloading his enforcer pistol at you, running out and switching to his bright yellow piston hammer as your flak shots tear away at his arms and legs at range. The distance closes, you can hear his piston hammer charging up to maximum as he draws near and right before he gets in range to smash you with it you fire a final shot and send his innards scattering in a trail behind him.

"DIE BITCH"

Oh man this game was awesome. Quake was a contender at the time, Q3Arena but, it lacked what unreal tournament had. A certain believability, a distinct gritty realism. Something that the following games developed on a little too much imo. Sure it evolved into the Gears of War franchise and that worked well there, but it all failed to create that blend of bombastic arena shooter, that mad sci fi unrealism, WITH the gritty believability that the first one managed to concoct so perfectly.

It was something you could imagine actually happening in a future here on earth. A dreary future (pun intended) but a realistic one all the same. Before you say it... Facing Worlds doesn't count towards this believability. xD

I used to imagine a movie of this game being made. It would be possible today and would be really good! Realising a thing like respawning, or having actors give real emotive reactions to things such as being fragged by a translocator.

The underlying plot of the liandri corp would make for a very interesting movie I think! So long as the movie revolves around the actual unreal tournament and matches, maybe interactions between the fighters outside of the tournaments, and only a little on the shady corporate side of it. If they tried to make it into this huge sweeping epic where Liandri eventually gets taken down by the end of it then it'll ruin it. We don't destroy Liandri in the game, they reign supreme. We win the tournament at the end. Right? Or am I forgetting something.

Anyway I am just chatting crap now sorry hi how are you

I cannot possibly count how many times I played this map over and over not just because of the tactics that I used, but because of the background music as well!

Ah, back when I only had the UT demo to play I'd play Coret on repeat because CTF was an absolute blast.
