Horses move aside, there's some new show jumpers in town. Prepare to go 'hopping mad' for these adorable rabbits from Sweden. You heard correctly, but these are not your average bunnies about town, the rabbits have flown in to compete in the Grand National of the pet world - rabbit showjumping. The 'Bouncing Bunnies of Sweden' will hop into action this weekend, at London's Earls Court, going head-to-head in the new spectator sport. Now in its third year, the Rabbit Grand National will see rabbit lovers showcase their pets' speed and agility by hopping over hurdles, all in support of Rabbit Awareness Week. The campaign hopes to help pet owners improve rabbit welfare and encourage bunny lovers to make changes in their rabbit care routine. Well-groomed and poised for victory, when it comes to showjumping, it looks like these bunnies certainly know how to hop to it. Report by Claire Lomas.

Often see Rabbits in small cages, Rabbits should be able to move around more than what a lot of owners allow them to.

Although this is cute, I don’t think that show jumping competitions are fun for rabbits. Also taking rabbits for competitions in small cages to noisy environments (surrounded with crowds of people and other rabbits) is extremely stressful for them as loud noises terrify rabbits. My rabbits used to stop eating and drinking because of stress after only a 2 hour car journey. A trip to the vet then followed so travelling with my pet rabbits was avoided as much as possible unless it’s essential.
