Just a quick demonstration of an AST HotShot/286 upgrade card that I recorded for eBay a while ago. Used in a Commodore PC with 8-bit ISA compatible VGA card and an XT-IDE.

i had the same PC with 2 disk drives and an AGA card. I had no hard disk back then, it had 640K RAM (which was much back then for such a machine, and it booted MS Dos 3.2 from diskette xD. .loved that computer and want to have it one day again. i never knew that the 8088 could be upgraded to a 286..but i think with the original commodore monitor that came with it, wolfenstein would not be enjoyable because it was a GREEN monitor xD

So this is a stock standard 8-bit 8088 with an AST HotShot 286? What CPU speed is the hotshot running at? Performance seems very favourable. I know that there was a modded version of Wolfenstein that ran on low end 286/8086 (maybe 8088), is this the modded version or is this just normal WOLF3D? I have an Orchid Tiny Turbo 286 card for my XT, which runs between 6-7MHz, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't run WOLF3D!
