Original one plus red cable USB-C to USB-C does not work with file transfer only charging from Windows laptop. I've used older Samsung cable USB-C to USB-A and file transfer started working. Such simple things really put's you off from One plus in future.

My screen is dead but the touch is still working and I needed to move files to my laptop, I used this video to blindly enter usb connection settings, it finally worked lol!

If it doesn't work, try this.
Plug your usb into your pc. Then on your phone screen, for a SPLIT SECOND, it will give you the option to choose "file transfer". This worked for me.

(The option for file-sharing on updated OS doesn't appear in menu as shown in video. OnePlus9 standard here. For me, it's a split second appearance, may be longer on other's devices.)

When I plugged my phone in, it automatically started to charge. If you tap the notification (it says "tap for other options") it gives the option for file transfer. I didn't even know that was what to look for until I saw this, so thanks.

It worked for a while but now it stopped working again, but now I enabled developer mode and changed default usb mode from midi to file transfer/android auto and got it to connect with usbc-a cable

Still not working on OnePlus 9 pro. I want to connect sd card reader that i have used on nord 2 without any problems there. On 9 pro it doesn't show anything (both phones are oxigen 13)

Here's what to do if this does not work.

1-Turn on your Phones blue tooth and connect in the settings to your computer (Find and establish your device)
2-Click on the mini hidden icon on your computer (Bottom right)
3-Click on Bluetooth devices and either (Send a File or Receive a File)
4-If it's a picture, hold your finger on each pic and hit the share button to Bluetooth
5-Send smaller files as sending many will take awhile
6-You are welcome
