I’ve had the Mr Coffee mug warmer for 4 months now. It’s easy to use and kept the coffee from getting cold too quickly. Didn’t stay hot but at least wasn’t cold. My biggest complaint is that it is a potential fire hazard. There is no auto shut off on it or even an option for 1-2 hour delay off. Last night it melted and nearly started a fire while I was sleeping. If it wasn’t for the table top glass cracking and popping- I wouldn’t have known it was melting down. I did not know the warmer was on. It had been on for 3 days we figure. (Husband brought me coffee in bed and turned in on- I didn’t know he turned it on and grabbed coffee and headed in with my day not realizing it was on) A weight sensor or 2-3 hour auto turn off sensor would have come in handy here and could possibly save lives. The mug warmer melted down and disfigured. It cracked my glass table top (the sound is what woke me at 3 this morning

In the winter I usually rest my cup on my radiator as it keeps them warm, it's very like that product, my cup stays warm but the drink doesn't really stay at a nice drinking temperature.

I just tried my coffee cup warmer christmas present today.. I was so discouraged after watching your video... I will say- I think what your experiment leaves out is the volume of liquid. As one takes sips, the volume steadily decreases. With the decreasing volume, the cup DOES maintain adequate heat. I use a kierug for my hot tea, and it stayed the same temperature for 2 hours! I teach online and the warmer worked really well for 4 classes. Try your experiment again, sipping/removing liquid as you go. ;)

They say your mug should lay flat on the warmer, no concave or insulated mugs.

the design is totally wrong ! cup bottom does not even touch heatpad.

It's also good for warming up a can of soup in time for lunch. Flip the can over mid-morning, and by lunch time it's ready.

Good points made. For the low price, I guess having lukewarm coffee is better than cold coffee. I liked the fact you used a coffee mug which was thick and had a concaved bottom, which is what most of us would use. Many of the new warmers say to use stainless steel mugs and mugs with flat bottoms. People want to use any mug they like, not something special. From what I’ve seen on Amazon, this is the best way to go, especially for the price. Unfortunately, I don’t think any of the warmers will keep the coffee hot. I guess if you put hot coffee in the microwave first, then put it on the warmer, it’d last longer, but then you couldn’t drink it right away...

It would be helpful to use a thermometer. Mr. Coffee brand is only about 18 watts, not enough to keep anything warm.

Have you tired pre warming your mug up with boiling water as a precautionary meause? What was the temp of your mug at that time do ya ponder?

The experiment is not something that would actually happen in real life. Who pours a full cup of coffee and doesn't take a sip until 30 mins pass? I think this thing will help keep your coffee warm throughout the normal coffee drinking duration and as someone else said, it becomes more effective as the volume of coffee decreases.
