Closed Beta is live now, and I got lucky with getting in. This beta build doesn't see to have voices. But atleast it has english subs lol. The beta in the first 25 mins had a tons of fps drops and screen tearing. So bear with that! Let me know if you guys want to see more. Enjoy!

Cbt 1 opening story "We are grateful for your help but We still don't trust You"
Launch Opening story "Oh Rover, Gawk Gawk Gawk, We wouldn't be alive today without you, Gawk Gawk Gawk"

On one hand, I'm glad that kurogames listens to their community but on the other hand, I also want them to have a strong stance. If it's technical matters, I think listening to the community is fine but for character design or story, I think they should have more confidence in that regard. They are very capable of creating great character designs and stories.

I really like the idea that everyone seems so skeptical about the rover.

The way I understand the story so much better from this than the final version… and I really like the hand drawn cutscenes, it seems like they had a style going. Too bad the final release is so sugary and puke inducing in the way characters swoon over MC. Why would we need intrigue in a game right

Holy... this story is much better than the released. Who tf ask for these changes?

The cutscene-to-gameplay transitions are nice. Can't wait to experience this with voiceovers. Also, love the dark atmosphere. Such a breath of fresh air that the MC isn't being trusted 100% instantly by strangers except for Yangyang (but I get it that she has some magic thing to know if someone is lying?)

And the characters are so pretty, especially MC and the lady who summons the white thing.

20:00 I'm gonna go a bit against the grain here and say I can see why it needed to be changed. There's a fine line between suspicion and hostility, and considering this is the second time Rover was seen protecting Yangyang I would say that amount of venom towards someone who has only been observed being helpful is wildly unecessary.

28:55 And all of Chixia's dialogue once you get to the city is baffling. I get it, she's worried about Yanyang, but her dialogue comes off less that she's concerned and more that she's just being an asshole. Even after they reunite with Yanyang there is no apology, she's still rude. It's contradictory too, a couple of lines inbetween her being rude sound like her being friendly so it feels like there were multiple writers fighting for control over whether she's happy & chipper or jaded & angry.

Again, there's a difference between "suspicious" and "hostile". I think this initial cut of the story is definitely too mean, and in a way that narratively doesn't make sense. The final story has problems too but I honestly can't say this is "better". Though it definitely could've been salvaged by just toning it down a bit, have characters change their opinion towards Rover as you prove yourself to them, etc.

I think Kuro "overcorrected" the plot. Going from one extreme to the other. I personally like this tone at the beginning where everyone (minus YangYang i suppose) doesn't trust MC and I also agree that that distrust got old by the end of act 1. What Kuro should've done is probably cut out some scenes or rework them, not... completely going to the other end of the line where everyone coddled amd praise MC. I know that story telling in gacha games can easily be improved later on, but my first impression on it is already butchered and as a story-driven player, plot and its execution is so important to me. I hope Kuro can put our complaints and feedbacks in consideration and get back on track.

Unpopular opinion but I like the final story. The first hour or so is a yapfest full of exposition- and terminology-dumping but, once you meet Scar, things start to come together. The reason everyone is being nice to Rover is because they want him on their side, plain and simple. Since the Rover is "special" it makes sense for them to want to use him for their own gain, hence the warm welcome done by the Magistrate and the feeling that everyone's hospitality is unnatural (because it is).

The fanservice (cringe as it is, I will admit) aside, it makes more sense for them to try to goad Rover into helping them by playing nice—the hostility in CBT 1 gets exessive and often nonsensical in some parts, as people request Rover's help just to go back to being rude to him once he's done what he's told to (see: Awu "helping" Rover fight the rider TD just to be mean to him again even though he did most of the work).

Scar tells the Rover that they're both black sheep. The reason the hospitality seems so unnatural is because everyone is *hiding information* from Rover. Even the talks with the Magistrate demonstate there are things she straight up refuses to tell him as she mostly encourages to find things out for himself—stating that the best solution to recovering his memories is by helping *her.* Everyone wants Rover for their own personal benefit, including the good guys.

If you've played PGR you've seen this kind of storytelling before. It lures you in with the thought that the good guys are definitely good and the bad guys are definitely evil, only to reveal later on that the situation is much more complicated than that. I really look forward to seeing how WuWa's story progresses and if they'll have a similar twist.

TL;DR: The final story isn't great at first. In fact the first hour or two is pretty awful, but not because everyone is "nice, " and CBT 1's story doesn't suit the wider narrative. The shift is exaggerated for sure, but I prefer it over the original.

While I'd prefer original approach over final version, I'd also like to point out that in this state it has certain problems. For example the mistrust of characters to MC: for the most part it looks like "We don't like you! We don't trust you! Because I said so!" While mistrust and anxiety are part of post-apocalypse, they need to be grounded, so they are more believable. There's a reason why Fallout series has the atmosphere of "don't trust anybody, even if they aren't raiders". If WuWa opening had hints, for example from Chixia that "That amnesia is a lie! He's definitely an Exile, trying to swoop upon us when we least expect it", we'd had bonus lore detail and we'd known that trust must be earned due to circumstances. It's just a quick version of how it could be solved.

Plus, the MC's default behaviour: it's weird to see grounded attitude from girls and anime-like attitude from MC, like "I won't let you touch her!" "I'll prove my worth to you!" "I worry about Yangyang too!" If you want serious and even grim story, then stick till the end to it. MC can easily have his own suspicions and doubts about those three (hell, I role-played this train of thought even when playing the final version of WuWa!), and he doesn't have to bend over them when they're outright hostile. Remember how players could act in the beginning of Dragon Age Inquisition in front of death sentence perspective? What I see in CBT 1 from MC's behaviour is just as immersion breaking to me as "You are the number one in the universe!" in most of online games.

The cutscenes had so much emotion in the previous version...I can't stand the final version of the story we got.

Holy crap, the characters actually feel alive and have their own motivations and doubts.

But now they all do is just suck the MC 💀💀💀

Crazy how CBT from 1 year ago seems better than what we got now, they really focused on the wrong things. What a shame

i want this version bro, wtf
The dialog is quick and actually readable, everyone has doubt for the MC because that actually makes sense, in this version MC has clear motivation as well.
what the fuck are they doing in 1 year, making the game worse

This story give player motivation to gain people trust and short term goal to keep playing. Instead we suddenly become a rizzler and rizz our way through.sigh..
