I mean, you also have Microsoft trying to appropriate the Maui project's name for their own C# framework that does basically the same, except without Linux support.

Torn between "They've no LinkedIn, that's unexpected." and "They've no LinkedIn, I hope they're real, burn LinkedIn to the ground."

There’s already a healthcare insurance company called meta,

Im pretty sure someone actually copyrighted it

Even though I don't use or like Facebook, based upon what's apparent I'm partial to Facebook with this thing. But again I don't have facts and this is based upon suspicions so I'd rather not have any opinion on who's right or wrong when the trademark meta is concerned

You could say that about anyone in news, business, and politics

I never meta company I liked unreservedly

First came across the term with similar to current usage in the 80s reading D Hofstadter but it’s taken a little while to gain popularity

The funny thing is to see this video, and there is a company called Meta in Brazil that managed to get a court decision for Facebook to change its name, because the meta technology company has existed since 2008

Facebook took Meta®️ Materials name.
MMAT. and the CEO, George Palikaras welcomed Facebook to the Metaverse.

That's really sketchy. I can't imagine they have much of a legitimate claim. That profile picture with the doge is also Dwayne Johnson in a turtleneck. Seems more like a troll than a legitimate company...

So instead of patent trolling, they are domain trolling. They might get a pay off, a sizable one at that, but in the end Facebook will win this one.

nah... "BETA" is better.
not because of software but because of beta kok behaviour of fb.

Maybe it is just to troll Facebook and its andriod-like CEO.

Let's be real here. You only cover this topic, because you wanted to use the word "sus" in an appropriate way.

Jokes aside, this looks really sus. Probably something like a patent troll for trademarks, where the owner of it sits on the name for years until he can make use of it someday. And that day was when Facebook announced it. Then he/they created all those social network accounts for this purpose.

While I don't think words like meta or alphabet should be allowed to be used for trademarks at all, I do think Facebook's the ones in the right here.

Am I the only one that thinks using the name "meta" is a bit arrogant? I don't think anyone should have that name.

MetaPC probably has the strongest case but even so I think unless Facebook did something like prebuilt computers it would probably be difficult for them to get a case.

I'm pretty sure the 20 million thing is probably partly a joke as well. That being said if they are serious it would be very funny if they got paid.

Solid vid
