Great tutorial! I would use some gloves or caulking tools for the sealent, tho. Acetone absorbs right into your body.

Looks good! How do you prevent somebody from driving a drywall anchor in the shower niche from the opposing room? Seems like that could be a recipe for disaster if somebody were to try and hang a picture using a 1.5 inch or greater anchor or screw.

Cool.... Thanks for the video. This is giving me ideas. I'm working on a bathroom which a prefabbed niche isn't going to work. In short older house with actual 2x4 lumber so the spacing is off. I do have a question. Being you can't screw in the back piece (makes absolute sense), why didn't you put it in first? Basically that original piece you cut out from the wall with the razor knife would go right back in once you had your ledger boards in. That way when you put your sides, bottom and top in they would effectively lock the back piece in and hold it. If there is a reason please let me know. Thanks.

Perhaps my math is off but why cut line is 1” less than finish line for bottom 5 rows of tiles. 1/2 foam board I understand. Bottom tile of the inch should be sitting on top of wall tiles right ?

Good video but It is hard to understand why you also subtract tile and grout from your finish line without seeing how you finished it. I am doing 12x24 and framing with jolly strip that covers the edge of the internal tile pieces so wouldn’t that mean I only subtract the backer board and 2x4?

Is tile baseboard still in style for bathroom ?

I assume that you're mitering your edges? If you were using a profile (i.e. Jolly), you would want your niche sill tile to sit above your "finish line", right?

What type of tile is best for showers floors? Stone, porcelain, so many options.

Thanks for sharing. Does tile adhesive stick well to this sealant?

Shouldn't you frame out the niche BEFORE installing the HydroBan? I mean, if you want to center it on the wall and there's a stud in the way, wouldnt it be smarter to address all that before the HydroBan?

You didn’t angle the bottom to allow for water runoff?
