Yamaha Townmate Lancashire - For sale 10/03/2017

1990 Yamaha Townmate 79cc shaft drive commuter bike in lovely aged condition.

It was originally bought by a shop in a small east Lancs village in 1990 for deliveries, but the shop closed soon after it was purchased. It was then stored for around 20 years when the previous owner bought it and put it back on the road.

It's previous MOT history reads as follows:

1.9.2011 638 miles
7.5.2014 691 miles
21.11.2015 1124 miles
25.10.2016 1337 miles

It's currently showing (genuine) 1570 miles and MOT is due October.

It's in lovely condition commensurate with age and very low mileage. It runs like a clock and is a genuine joy to ride.

I've added a vintage Rickman topbox and I got a local light engineering firm to fabricate a sidestand. This is a big improvement on just the centre stand, as it's not the easiest bike to lift onto the centre stand. Kick start, as bikes should be, four speed semi-automatic gear box, excellent suspension, brakes and handling for pot-holed town centre roads. Rides, sounds and performs like a new machine.

It's a delightful bike to ride with a top speed of 45mph, £17/year tax and mpg well over 200. Plenty of spares available off ebay and the like. You get a lot of attention wherever you park up as there are very few of these bikes left on the road...especially with such low mileage. Of course the shaft drive means there is very little maintenance required. It has a few areas of very minor surface rust which could be cleaned up if desired...but it has a patina commensurate with it's age. There is a small tear in the seat, taped up of course!

Comes with Haynes manual and two sets of keys, all MOT certificates and V5 registration. Currently SORN.

Open to offers, but this is a much better bike than a C90 in my opinion and so I estimate price accordingly.
