The V6 wasn’t the problem it was the 5 speed transmission that makes it feel slower than what it is. I have a 23 and doesn’t feel sluggish going up a mountain at all.

Glad I bought a 2023 4Runner.

Solid engineering and all the issues worked out over several years.

Simple engine, simple transmission, solid body, and enough tech for me (I hate new interiors, I don't want to drive a cellphone).

Jeff you aren’t considering the most important aspect of an engine… RELIABILITY. 4 cylinder turbo WILL BE junk in 100k miles. Go talk to a seasoned mechanic and get schooled.

A small 4 cylinder turbo engine will never be as durable and long lasting than a larger naturally aspirated engine. It is physically not possible.

1999 4Runner Limited 4wd I bought 8 years ago for 10 grand. It only had 150 thousand miles. One of the best purchases I ever made. Never selling.

Have owned a 4runner (still do) from the last 3 generations. That streak is going to end unfortunately. That big mess of hoses and wires they call an engine is a no-go.

No thanks Toyota with the new JUNK V-6 turbos engine in the Tundra and probably Junk 4 cylinder turbo in the Tacoma and 4 Runner. Toyota is over pricing their vehicles way too far and loosing what made them reliability. I think the new 4 Runner body looks like somebody side swiped both side of the body. I think Toyota is going to lose a lot of the loyal customers with the path they are taking!

Toyota has disappointed us again by putting a 4 cylinder turbo in the new 4Runner. It looks good with the new design, but I am disappointed in the new engne. Will it be reliable? I doubt it.

I get from A to point B fast enough with my beautiful 2024 forerunner and it toes my trailer really well
