For anyone wondering, the mistake is he forgot to add -C in the front

A + in algebra, + C in integration, oops, i mean F - in calculus

But since (1+x)/x² *can* be split up as 1/x² + x/x² = x⁻² + x⁻¹, you can differentiate that to get −2x⁻³ − x⁻², then use d(1/u) = −du/u² to get the answer as −(−2x⁻³−x⁻²)/(x⁻²+x⁻¹)². You can simplify this if you want to, but they never require that on the test.

Why would I do something like this? It's so stupid that most of the people would notice it's incorrect

I would do long division to avoid that quotient rule

Now try this.
∫1/(x+1) dx
=∫1/x+1/1 dx
=ln|x|+ln|1|+c
=ln|x+1|+c

So wrong yet so right

Bro u can't even Do this on an algebra test, let alone calculus.

Basically, the answer is (2x + x^2)/((1+x)^2)

I feel like a specific student did this on a test and is the reason this video exists

Oh great. Now it’s math shaming. One shaming at a time please, still trying to quit the McDonald’s French fries.

I feel like someone in his class did that

Now it seems that the numerator can be distributed

here we should use this formula:
d/dx(u/v) = (d/dx(u)*v - d/dx(v)*u)/v^2

Quotient rule? Product rule but set (1+x)^-1?
