Apple pollination here in MA is $100 Per Hive. That is what the farmer that I have my hives at pays... mine are free to be there and stay :D BTW Kamon, your hair looks Fab tonight.

Kamon, I get my best result requeening a broodless colony with a mature cup (open cell) a day before its ready for the incubator, the bees finish it out and its usually all good vs losing a mated queen. Shake a frame of open brood into a split is also very beneficial for cell acceptance and survival, older bees may not feed the virgin as she emerges.. The Bug Farmer messaged me indicating he bought some bunk queens, I'm real picky about the quality of NUCs I sell from my yard to give a new beekeeper the best chance to be successful.

Wi you really should do two mite treatments one in the spring and one in July or Aug. Preferably July periodically doing mite washes are really suggested also. Keeping the mites low is really the best method to overall productivity.

Sorry Missed the live stream but awesome as always. Tried grafting for the first time. 24 hours later they ate the larva I grafted in. I guess there was some young larva on the frames i put in the nuc so they started them. I tore them down and used the royal jelly to wet graft and added another frame of nurse bees to the nuc...hope it works this time.

You can add a super to a Long Horizontal hive during the nectar flow. Mine holds 32 frames and has been plenty. But my lid isnt attached, is very lightweight and I have added 1 layer of supers across the top. It's only 2 months out of the year at most ad I can pull all the frames as they are capped. Super easy

If anyone wants to understand the benefits and difficulties of Beekeeping, they need to understand it is as difficult as Saltwater fishkeeping.

Daytona Beach area here and I'm getting overrun with hive beetles. I'm using swiffer sheets, hive beetle traps, screen bottom boards and have my hives in full sun....Anything else I can do? Love your videos!!

A good black locust year on the Balkans can give 20-25lb per day on a hive scale. But we have less of those... rain and cold weather ruined it this year. I always imagined you must have giant flows of black locust, since the tree was imported from USA. It is too sensitive for this new weather patterns.. good years are becoming rare. Always something...
