These are the worst art commission tips that I see popularized across all so many channels. To be honest, most tips you hear about how to get art commissions, where to find commissions, and art commission advice is completely outdated. Also, this advice typically comes from really large channels and massively supported channels, so their bad art commission advice doesn't help anyone out who isn't already on their level. So, why are so many people still listening to this ungrounded guidance? In this video, you'll explore the most popular art commission myths so that you'll be able to properly focus on what does and doesn't matter for art commissions. These are the most popular art commission lies you are told.

Do you have any questions? Anything you need clarified? Ask me in the comments! I ALWAYS answer your comments. No lame hearts and ignoring comments from this guy.

I grew up drawing my favourite cartoons since I was 8, I'm 29 now. I never had my own style developed, I liked not sticking to one style, I wanted to try and draw any style I could just to see how far I could go with it. It's fun to expand, I even sometimes do my own spin if I need to. Sometimes drawing prompt challenges helps draw to random things to create something original.

''instagram sucks for commissions'' that's the place where I get most of my commissions tho, second is deviantart and third is twitter.

Right now I'm on my journey to learning human anatomy I think I'm on day four and I'm going to keep the doing some practice for it. I am limiting myself to a few minutes to a hour so I don't burn myself out . I will keep the advice you gave me in mind for now I'm taking things one step at a time.

I often hear these advices too from so-called reputable and popular influencers here in YT and other soc med platforms about getting yourself diversified on styles and categories such as 3D modelingh/animation, graphic design and anything creative under the sun when the truth is, they just wanted to let loose of you in the dark and jump a leap of faith and hurt yourself for even trying which enables you to stay as a mere spectator for their success. They needed young people to stay where they are and become simply canon fodder for their social media following. It's angering and really disgusting thinking about how predatory the art industry sometimes and some even have the audacity to tell people that ART ISN'T A COMPETITION when they are acting and talking otherwise. The hypocrisy of those people really surprises me.

You know, I think many people that do art commission price sheets, might be more like shy to ask for some price in return of the drawing and that having their prices in a sheet makes it easier since the client would contact you if they're not discouraged by the price then.

It's mostly true for countries in which the dollar is way higher as you mentioned. (The being shy and thinking the person is just going to say 'that's too much' and go away'

Also, this conflicts to you encouraging example sheets and then directing people to the price sheet on deviantart. (In a journal format or such)

I actually did what you suggested to for deviantart (the separating the examples from the prices) but on instagram (I made a post with examples and I made a highlight with the price sheet) and I actually had someone comment "I WANT ONE" (in the examples post) and after looking at the price sheet, she messaged me explaining to me what she wanted for the commission.

I was confused with your point of instagram sucking for commissions since my friends actually make a lot of commissions using instagram, hmmm So I thought you were going to give tips to how to use instagram to attract buyers :0

So, could it be that your method for deviantart (separating examples from prices) is actually something that can work on instagram as well? Like of course not on art station as it would make you look unprofessional but, since instagram is a place where everyone posts every kind of art, maybe that's why it worked?

I mention this cause I uploaded my commission sheet with the prices (like pictures with prices on the side) and yes, nobody contacted me or anything; however, since I watched several of your videos and watched your deviantart video actually encouraging this but by separating the product from the price, I gave it a shot on instagram and well, I guess it did well?

What kind of tips can you give to someone that believes that an interested person might back out after knowing the price if you don't set up a price sheet? Cause well, this happened to a friend of mine from brazil, she said it happened not only with people from her country but from USA as well

Old school trad painter here, so far my favorite unsolicited advice was "do anime girls and make a tiktok" to get commissions

Hi! I'm not sure what you mean by a commission sheet...Are you referring to a price sheet that is actually printed on paper that you would hand out to a client? I agree that the client should love your art first before your prices, and having a conversation is good, too. But I think some people are curious about prices before they contact you, so how do you suggest you advertise what you charge for commissions?

Thanks for the tips! I have one quick question, do you think fiverr is worth using if I am looking to provide commissions?

All your advices feel really counterproductive when compared to my experience, everything you say doesn't work has worked perfectly for me.
