As an Israeli, it's happened a couple of times in the last several years. It happened for a short time due to Hamas rocket fire on Tel Aviv (next to the airport) a few years ago. It happened for months as a result of October 7th. El Al, Israel's national carrier, did special trips after that to bring back reservists who had been overseas for the fall Jewish holidays and were being called up. Multiple airlines had just been resuming normal schedules from then in the last couple of months.

Given that Iran uses "plausible deniability" by having so-called non-Iranian people to launch strikes against Israel and others; I don't think it possible for Israel to "keep it internal". Also, how is it probable That proper security sweeps missed an explosive device in that supposedly secure housing unit? How did Israel know that the target would be in That unit? It may not have been entirely an inside job, but it smells of inside participation.

I feel like the Pentagon pizza index is usually misrepresented and abused. People love to cherrypick the stats on that and limit it only ever to events where the US has directly intervened in an international conflict and frame it as a sign of the US planning wars and interventions abroad, when in reality, it's going to be like that in literally ANY tense international situation the Pentagon has to closely monitor, no matter what their plans actually are.

It was infamously popping off a couple of days before the Russians invaded Ukraine, and the US really hasn't directly intervened much in Ukraine's favor, simply shipping weapons and aid with an infamous amount of restrictions.

Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if the Pentagon was on high alert about the Olympics, considering that event is a terrorism magnet.

Flights to Israel stopped on Oct 7th due to rocket attacks. Flights resumed later when the range of Hamas rockets decreesed.
What is more troubling for me is that it seems that the Israeli government did nothing to prepare for such a situation.

"Israel, already embroiled in one conflict..." Uh, Israel is already currently embroiled in at least 4 conflicts. Hamas in Gaza, Houthis in Yemen. Hezbollah in Lebanon. Iran... Now they've assassinated a Hamas leader in Iran. Israel has escalated the conflict. Nevertheless don't underestimate Iran's capacity for delivering performative retaliation. Things are dangerous, but I'm sceptical that this is going to break out into all our war by Israel against Iran.
