This is NOT a joke song. It stand above the others because of its powerfull message as I do not think most other countries has that....

The song is a tribute to his parents who both died at a young age. The lyrics are about living life as an orphan, which Joost is himself. That's why he says
'Euro-papa', 'being alone in Germany' and
'Papaoutai' (dad where are u?) and ends with this sad ending. His dad told him that there are no boundaries in the world, both in personal achievements and between countries.

That's right, we're going to have the ESC in the Netherlands in 2025. Without a doubt, Joost will win this year.
The song is dedicated to his parents. It is not a song that criticizes Europe, nor its policies.
His father died of cancer when he was twelve, his mother died a year later of a cardiac arrest. He already liked writing music from an early age, watch ESC with his parents and talked with his father about traveling around Europe before he passed away. The song references several European countries. One day he also told his father that he would still sing at ESC, and there he is... "Europapa"!! Europa and papa (papa mean father in Dutch).
I live in the Netherlands and this year... EUROPAPA IS THE WINNER!! THE SONG IS AMAZING!!
"At the end of the day, we're all human beings. My father told me, it's a world without borders. I miss you every day, is what I secretly whisper. You see dad, I listened to you."

Fun music, sad lyrics through the whole song.. not a joke at all... Everywhere you go you take the pain of loss with you... He lost both parents at a young age... Papa means dad.. hence euro papa

Joost Klein dedicated this song to his father, who died when he was 12 years old due to cancer. His dad taught him that the world has no actual boundaries. His mother died a year later, when he was 13, due to cardiac arrest. Before his dad passed, Joost was already writing all kinds of stuff and promised one day he was going to go to Eurovision. He has gone through so many challenges in life, and it is a true inspiration to see how he deals with them.

Did you read the bio of this song🤔? This is not a joke song or a shout-out to Europe. It is called Euro-papa or Eurodad if translated in English.

Dutchie here and have to be honest: SO embarrassing this song... Not because of my age (54 and counting) or that I just don't 'get' it but this belongs in the late 80-ies and perhaps early 90-ies when this was 'all the rage' and we were dancing to this, but it is 2024, we have moved on, it is SO old and done before and not original...
