I always use sections of pipe insulation cut to fit the various tube lengths. Pipe insulation is very cheap and offers excellent protection. Also, remove the RD to protect from a bent hanger.

4:40 - Good idea to feed the velco straps through the actual pedal platform cutouts, not just strap them down, that way it's impossible for them to slip out...and risk damaging your frame.

Also worth mentioning possibly deflating the tyres if youre gonna put it in a plane. I've never flown with a bike, but I've heard that inflated tyres can explode in the unpressurised hold! Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Just bought a bikeBoxAlan. And, I suggest folks watch GCN's guide, so much easier to follow than the dated video bikeBoxAlan has on the site...

All the Germans visiting Majorca used cardboard bike packing boxes (that the bikes are originally delivered to the bike shop in), my (proper) bike box was wrecked every journey. Cardboard is immensely strong and cheap!

I also have Bike Box Alan and I have a spare old Zipp skewer for the wheels and the skewer may get to the frame so the padding to the rear skewer is advisable. No need for rear derailleur protection it is good enough. I don't have floor pump to bike box and it is in the normal luggage. I have padding all tubes.

So after watching both the box and bag video, I'm curious to know if you folks prefer one over the other?

I own one of those boxes and I'm underwhelmed to be honest. If you have 28" wheels they won't fit in the respective cutouts and you have to wiggle things and add padding. They now have a bigger size box which fixes this problem. They also added velcro straps for the wheels. Would I buy one of their boxes again... I'm not so sure about it.

1.- Could you, please, say what´s the brand and model of this case/box? 2.- Does it have keylocks? 3.- If you´re travelling to the USA should you let the box (the locks I mean) open like the regular baggage?. Thanks a lot for this and all your videos

At 1:36 you loosen the stem bolts so the handlebars turn freely. By 2:40 the stem and handlebars are away from the frame. When I do this there's a problem with exposing part of the fork that the steering tube was covering. What should you do during this continuity error!?

I took my bike abroad for the first time and on the flight had a nasty thought of air pressure and the inflated tires. Should you release the air out the tyres?

First time packing up a bike with Di2. The battery is in the seat post. In the video it says remove the battery. Does this mean I need to take the seat post in my hand luggage ? Or does it just need to be disconnected ?

Can you pack a bike with integrated cables in handlebar in that box? ( wilier cento10ndr). Which bike size fits in? What should I look for when I buy such a box? Thanks!

Hi. I've just received a new Canyon bike and I've found out they have through Axle mounts for the wheels, these bike boxes I notice mount the wheels with a removable axle/spare nut, does anyone know if these boxes allow for the Through axle style or if you need a different type of box? Many thanks,

Would you say this is good for home storage, I have a shed but as it has other bikes I am thinking of buying one to keep my good expensive bike in.
