They can play dead in the water. I was swimming by myself, in a waterhole in Bradenton, when I was 13. I saw what I thought was a huuuge dead cottonmouth, laying upside down in the water. I swam up to it, and grabbed it by the tail. With lightning speed, it up righted itself, and bolted away! And that's not even the scariest experience I've had with them!

Ball pythons are very sweet natured and make great pets...

Temp and vibration they sense also smell. They don't waste venom. They knew me at the creek and never bothered me. Fished next to me many times. Fed him small minnows when 6 or 7.

I feel like the cottonmouth is the gaboon viper of America, they're pretty stocky and excellent Forest camouflage.

Always see huge cottonmouths at the country club on hole 5. Things are lightening quick in water

I've walked right by a few of these hiding in the grass down by the creek a few times but never tried to bite me for some reason.

Yeah it's not necessarily that they're smart, it's more they can see the glass because they're pit vipers.
