Farm Delivery Business - How Much Money Did We Make?

Today we take you along as we deliver to our customers.

On Saturday's we deliver to 2 locations to customers that have preordered products from the farm. We are going to talk about the delivery business, how much money we made today, how the delivery idea is working out and how we communicate to our customers.

The drop points haven't worked out as well as we had hoped but we'll continue to work on them until we reach the level of sales we are hoping for.

Take extra product with you. Run "specials" on those products and market those to your customers that are showing up to pick up their orders....they are likely to purchase if you can communicate the added value. Even if a 6 customers spend 10-15$ more than their order originally was, you could push your sales higher through this. Maximize selling opportunity when you have customers in front of you. Are you seeing weekly return customers? If not, give customers a 10% off coupon good for NEXT WEEK only. You have to create more urgency in your market.

I like the Profitable Mindset Podcast she has great advice on sales of farm products.

I would suggest that you get your truck lettered or have magnetic signs on it to make it a moving billboard. Have your website on it and phone number for people to order. We'll worth the investment

Joel Salatin said he had order forms with him and took orders whenever he met with people.
Maybe offer a free chicken to anyone bringing in a new customer.
Bundle different cuts to add less popular products like chicken backs. Put in a recipe on how best to use something like backs for stock.

Hi
Last weekend I picked up my order at farmer's market for $145.
My farmer has monthly specials to generate interest.
She ran out of chickens months ago.
Look her up and you might get some ideas.
Wildfire Farms is name and they have a real good website and online store. Market is just outside Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Going to be her competition next year with chicken and pork. Her prices are steep, but they are worth it to not to have to eat feces embedded within the meat.

Print flyers with you email and buisness link and just drive through neighbor hoods putting your flyers in mail boxes.

Interesting video, would love to see you get into mailing your products and I would be interested in learning that aspect also they have freezer trailers you can advertise on as you deliver.

Sorry, forgot to mention market.
Wildfire Farms sells at St. Norbert Farmer's Market
Should also check out other seller's web pages for ideas.

Have you consider enrolling to take SNAP benefits? Our programs in AZ are incentivizing participants to shop heatjlier. I believe you contact USDA.

What about putting your large farm sign by the road while your set up for drop off. Let's people know who you are and may get them to stop.

I don’t do it but reach out to rednour farms either here on YouTube or on Facebook. They are based in kentucky they do deliveries throughout the state. Super nice people I’m sure he would be glad to talk to you.

I would think one could find a local restaurant that would buy once a week and they could run specials on the product purchased and at the same time advertise your farm at the same time....could easily be 1 location buying a few hundred dollars a week

Your customers are the ones willing to pay more for a superior product. Focus on reaching them. Become "my farmer" to them. Get a horse trailer with deep freezers and a generator. This is for image of professionalism and customer relief. Bad meat is a killer and people know this. I am feeling good about my meat purchases at farmer's market because they come out of a deep freezer.
Even if you are totally sure your meat is safe, appearances matter.

I know there’s a lot of people on the Facebook groups I’m in looking to buy half hogs and what not. There’s quite a few for NC too. I definitely think offering to sell piglets will bring you a lot of sales but probably make more money selling the meat, I don’t know anything about the business side of it wish I did so I could help more.

I think this video is going to help fix your lack of sales. On another note. I’d like to make a video request. For all us up and coming farmers this year. Of course we have struggled to get processing dates. I was able to get one date for pork. I’ve never sold cut pork!! I personally need help on deciding how to have it cut. How thick to do chops? How much sausage? What to stay away from that doesn’t sell. Chuck knowing what you know now, how would you cut your very first pig to get the most success from it.
