Germany to recognize third gender category

독일 헌재 '제3의 성' 인정…내년까지 법 개정해야
Germany's highest court has ruled that a third gender must be included on official documents, becoming the first European country to make the change.
The Federal Constitutional Court on Wednesday ruled in favor of the introduction of a third gender category for people who do not identify as either male or female or are born with an ambiguous sexual anatomy.
It called on lawmakers to enact legislation by the end of next year.
The court's decision was hailed by intersex campaigners as a "small revolution."
