Excellent comment from Michael regarding field ambience recording in stereo. I totally agree and did exactly that on a job over the weekend. I used a BP4025 XY stereo field mic with a serious windscreen on a light stand about 6 feet high. Got great immersive sound to go with the 360 video they shot.

With regards to Michaels comments at 50:48 I think the concept behind Sony's UWP system is worth a look in your new wireless course. As far as I'm aware Sony is the only company out there that offers a completely integrated solution, covering audio and video. I find it particularly useful in the context of corporate shoots where I'm responsible for video and audio.

I've been successfully using it for about 2 years. I'm using the dual channel receiver with lavs, handheld and plug-on transmitters. The supplied lavs are ok, but the Sony ECM-77BMP is a reasonably priced upgrade imo. It's also a microphone that almost everyone has heard and has a familiar 'broadcast' sound that works well on corporates imo.

You are right about the past. The situation was awful. I remember carrying 4 'W' series batteries in each pocket with my original a7!! Since the a9 Sony switched to the circa 80g 'Z' series batteries which are excellent ime.
