I had a Minor ISSUE with my BlackRapid but I found a KILLER Solution

Let me first say that this is not really an issue that puts any of your gear at risk. It is more of a simple solution to make your BlackRapid Strap even better!!!!

For the past few years I have been using my BlackRapid straps and have loved them every step of the way. But I always noticed one slight issue when I was attempting to change my lenses. What would happen is I would hold the camera in one hand which took all the tension of the strap and the shoulder part would slip off to the side. No remember what I am saying here, the camera was in my hand so at no time was my camera in danger. In fact when you are standing and holding your camera or letting it dangle this is not even an issue.

What would happen is I would have to rearrange the strap every time I stood back up. This was more of an inconvenience than anything else.

But there is a simple solution that takes this strap to an entirely different level of comfort. Stephen brought to my attention that he had the same issue and all he did was simply reverse the Brad. Now instead of it going under the left arm, it goes under the right arm.

Now the strap is secure to your body and no matter what you do it no longer will slip to the side when you bend down to change lenses.

This is a simple change you can make on your own. It may take a few minutes to reverse it but once thats done you are all set.

I find it more convenient to hold the black rapid in my hand, and let the camera drag on the ground behind me.

It doesn't work on the Sport Breathe strap. I saw this video and decided that I could buy it but alas, the cross strap sits up too high to comfortably cross the other way. Is there some kind of accessory strap that you know of that I could add to go the other way? I have broad shoulders and carry a big lens.

Hmm that is a great idea..this happened to me once as well when it almost fell off my shoulder.  I'm going to give this a try!

I like it. I have the same fear sometimes. And I think this will maintain the strap better while wearing a backpack. I just gave it a try and it's seems sturdier but less confortable. I will let me a few times to decide

I returned the Black Rapid strap as it did not shorten enough for me : (  The strap solution is great though as the strap did slid off my shoulders fairly easily.

Only if they made the brad longer would it fit me that way. I am sure the "Larger" folks cannot do this way unless it had longer material in the BRAD.

Jarred, you could tell your trainer that you nerd to beef up your shoulders and then the BR wouldn't slide off. I know you thought of this. Like you said "quit being a lazy photographer".

Damn you Jared Polin.  You got me all excited about this easy move but, alas, there is not enough strap to fit around my chest.  Either you have a longer strap or you have a small chest.  I have the Sport version.  Maybe Black Rapid has a longer strap that they can send me.  Great idea anyway.
