I've been using BP monitors for years and didn't know this info. I strongly suspect it's the same with my colleagues -- or it could be, because we work 1:1 with each patient, not looking over each other's shoulders. *THANK YOU*

Thank you so much for explaining! I've worked in the hospital for 3 years and I never knew what the index meant for how to correctly size a patient. I'm a little embarrassed but then again I wasn't educated.

Some of the cuffs can be confusing but like he said, the tube goes down the arm.

Even if a cuff has an arrow or a circle with a line through it, I locate the bladder by feel and fold it in half. I then use the fold to locate over the brachial artery if I find these symbols questionable. And I do on some of these cuffs.

Can you go over how to use the bp monitor on a Cart that I see in Dr. offices that can be wheeled from room to room. There is a long arrow which is aligned to a brachial artery but I was want to confirm. Also, those cuffs sometimes don't wrap around a patient's arm snuggly cus either 1) their upper arm is short or 2) the arm is wider at the top but much smaller near the elbow so it's harder to make it snug enough so that it's not so loose. Any tips ? thx

I can feel the sensor, but I have a crappy monitor and the arrow seems useles because it will clearly point to a different section relative to the tube/sensor depending on the size of the users arm. I can feel the sensor next to the tube. Where is the sensor exactly supposed to go on my arm?

Why would the index line point to my shoulder? This would result in the tube being under my arm. I am so confused

You totally skipped the artery marker on the second type. Where should the artery marker go?
Thanks

I need to see step by step how to do it. You skipped that part.

Most monitors come with garbage instructions, especially if they are made in China.
