Thank you so much that was extremely helpful, as a member an Arabic speaking community we tend to use CS and CM interchangeably but in formal conversations CS is preferred!

Code switching refers to the practice of alternating between two or more languages or varieties of language in conversation. It can involve switching between languages, dialects, or even registers within the same language.



Code meshing, on the other hand, is a more fluid and integrated approach to language use. It involves blending linguistic features from different codes (languages, dialects, registers) within the same sentence or discourse, often for communicative or rhetorical purposes.

I'm Brazilian and I live in Germany with my family. Here live other Brazilian families aswell and code-mixing is quite common between us

I grew up in a quite CS intolerant environment and right study in a very CS tolerant environment and I personally feel both positive and negative attitudes. And to me negative attitudes are to a large extent pivoting around “patriotism” and “be like us” while positive attitudes regard CS use as a embrace of outside world (more precisely the English speaking culture).
