The woods is a song is about the fact the way people aren't so honest about the way they are presenting themselves to others. Everyone has a mask that puts on face when walking out of house. Beneath that mask is a real person which we are ashamed to show, or because it's not the ''norm''. We try so hard to fit in that sometimes we forget who we really are. He spend time in solitude, he escaped from ''the norm'' and realized that everything is fake and if you are not fake you can't fit in the system.''Their primped plastic forms melt in the heat of the light'' But time will show sooner or later the real person behind that mask.

Fantastic album. First three tracks are all favourites. Wish he'd release an album with some of these songs combined with those of his EPs, like Love Song #1 and Darlin What Have I Done. Need these songs in my vinyl collection, with Highwayman in there as well! Also if I hear one more goddamn comparison between him and fucking Vedder... Every video, 90% of the comments! Smith is a far better singer than Vedder, I don't get the constant comparisons. Both have similarly deep voices but White Buffalo has far more soul and feeling in his voice. It's far more unique, it has a quality I've never heard from any other singer. Certainly not Vedder.

Fantastic first album.i love the intro to this first tune.cant beat a little ckassical mutates into raw dark country folk rock.best and fave album right here.i saw jake in birmingham england a few years back.he was awesome.so energised.sang near enuf this full album and more
