Ξυπνάς και του καθρέφτη τη λίμνη αναταράζεις
ζαρκάδια ξαφνιασμένα θα πεταχτούν.
Θα φύγουν για τα δάση κι από το είδωλό σου
θα λείπουνε τα μάτια και η φωτιά.

Θα ψάξεις τους δικούς σου, τυφλός και τρομαγμένος
ήρθε ο καιρός να μάθεις ποιοι σ' αγαπούν,
μα η πόλη είναι άδεια κι ο μάντης Τειρεσίας
θ' αφήσει το χρησμό του στην ξένη γη, σε ξένη γη.

«Τυφλός είναι κι εκείνος που κάνει ότι δεν ξέρει,
πως πίνει απ' το πηγάδι το σκοτεινό
που, ό,τι τον κατατρώει, ανάγκη το 'χει κάνει
ή στην αυλή το κρύβει, να ξεχαστεί».

Την ώρα αυτή στον κάμπο ομίχλη κατεβαίνει
τα σκιάχτρα, τα κουρέλια θα φοβηθεί;
Τρέξε να ψηλαφήσεις την πλάση ακριβέ μου,
το μπράτσο της απλώνει, να κρατηθείς.
