Bravo l'artiste !! Jmarc

the awkward clapping for 2 seconds when the jazzy part started was painful

I think it’s hilarious that the crowd unanimously knows it’s a meme for a pianist of his caliber to play Für Elise

Wonderful !
This is Encore - Beethoven: For Elise (arranged by Ethan Uslan) from Chopin Institute. Title: "Bruce Liu, Vasily Petrenko, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra-18th International Music Festival"

He played so that you have something to write about. Bruce can afford to do that. Great, keep it up. Be yourself in music too. Music is about emotions, not styles.

Never has jazz been this polished and so beautifully interpreted from a classical taste!

It’s not really Uslan version, if someone has the courage to make a transcription out of this performance, please publish it :D

I wonder how I played it so differently...

😂 As a classical pianist and organist for more than 1/2 century, this has been, and still is, usually one of THE very first ‘classical’ pieces a beginner is taught. BUT this fellow is having fun with this style (vs interpretation), and it’s very cute! It’s somewhat similar to what I’ve seen some other 🎹ists do with this same one (and other classical ones too) that are called ‘nightmare’ versions. If anyone makes a remark about THIS not being ‘Fur Elise’ as composed/written and makes critical remarks, then they have NO sense of humor whatsoever imo! In fact, I think it takes more talent to play it like he does than it takes to play it in the original, classical style❗️* I’m not positive which category I would put this in, but it sounds like it could possibly be in Stride or Ragtime.

It’s more like a Ragtime….. not really jazz. Anyway, it’s entertaining 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Ethan Uslan goes concert hall.
Goes to show how stuffed WITH the same old routine and how starved classical audiences are FOR crossovers. Great business opportunity for savvy concert pianists who know how to read the signs of the times and dare to take the Road Not Taken or Less Travelled By.
