Today we are looking at the Canon R8, my latest full frame camera. I picked up this camera because I wanted something ultra lightweight and compact and ever since I got my hands on it, this has been my go-to camera for vlogging, run and gun, and handheld videos. I would like to point out that this review is for someone that does video first then photos second. Thanks for the video. (and the shoutout on your Short!) Did it have any overheating in 4k 24? I normally only shoot 60 fps for b-roll. Would only be a few minutes at a time. FYI... I also saw a hack for the battery life. Turn the camera on Airplane mode. The person went from 130 shots on a battery to 775.

I think you've made some wonderful observations here Paula and although the R8 is touted by a lot of folks as a beginner's full frame mirrorless camera, it is in fact massively more than that. It is wonderfully light and small and with the 16mm prime it makes for a fabulous travel camera if you are into wide angle shots (which I love). I'm very envious of the wide angle zoom you have purchased. I had the EF 16-35mm and it was from my point of view the winner winner chicken dinner of a lens. I wonder whether powering the camera with an external USB-C power pack or charger, with the original Canon battery installed in the camera, produces any less heat?

I'm mostly an old guy finally moving up from a Canon APS DSLR to this my first full frame mirrorless. So yes, the EF lens adaptor is a must and the prime 50mm 1.8 RF lens works fine for me. I mostly shoot photos 95% of the time... rarely video and if so just very short clips which my Smartphone can handle very well.

Would you recommend the Canon R6 Mark II or the Sony fx3 for vlog/doc work? I also like to take pictures. Do you enjoy your canon over your Sony A7s3

It can do HD 180p not just 120, there is no record limit in 4k60p its 2 hours for the software limit but around 30 until it overheats but if you use a fan on it and a v mount battery or usb-pd power bank in your pocket you can easily bypass the overheating. Otherwise you touched on a lot of points the big channels didnt which is awesome to see. The crop factors on the digital IS dont degrade the picture quality as its still downsampled from 6k so as long as your cropping in camera and not in post theres no loss and it works extremely well in this R8 like you said the lack of ibis is a positive because no wobbly stuff.

Does camera stops working when its overheated? ....if yes then how long does it take to start working again plx do reply i am confused ...

Hello! When shooting a video, I have a “jerky” picture when moving. I shoot 25 frames, shutter speed 50. Please tell me what could be the problem?

Thanks for the video. I am a photographer, so the R8 might be a good backup camera for my street photography. You did not mention it’s focusing system at all. Does it have eye focus?
