VW Radio lock code without going to the Dealer

Getting and entering the radio safe/lock code for this Volkswagen radio out of an 04 Touareg.
You do have to pay to use the service to get the code but it saves going to the dealer

Starting what year is the Radio "recognized" by the Network... which then does not require a PIN (network determines that the radio is stock / meant to be in vehicle and is then unlocked)?

servis charge so much to unlock this radio when u don´t have a code - this is like fraud - good we can bypass this - btw. I hear I can turn on radio and just hold button for 40-50min to fix that
