Those who are alive and active demon slayers are fully seen but Rengoku only being a memory being seen very little as tome goes by we can only remember moments of him alive and tengen being a retired but living counter part is shown half as being safe and interactive

TLDR: The characters onscreen are people Tanjiro can save and those offscreen he can't but can carry on their memories.

My take away from that image shows what Tanjiro is fighting to protect. I mean if you look at Uzui his whole left side was offscreen because that shows what he failed to protect (his left hand and eye) while half onscreen shows what he can still fight for him to keep living. As for Rengoku he is offscreen because he is dead and Tanjiro can't protect a dead man but his cloak is onscreen as a memory of him I guess...thats what I think at least.

The one thing I especially like about demon slayer when it comes to fights, is that for the most part, it's not relegated to who's truly more powerful on a surface level sense. The only thing that kept Tanjiro alive In the initial engagement was his experience with upper moons, but was still getting clapped up due to the unique situation that this demon provided. Only after experiencing what the clones had to offer and then foolishly separating Tanjiro from the jump shack he was traped in did he turn the tables on them with proper Intel, distance, and the quick thinking of his sister.

It takes a lot of moving parts for these slayers to come on top. They can't all be hot enough to run that shit solo dolo🔥🔥🔥 rip a legend!
