ABOUT CHICAGO PD
From multiple Emmy Award-winning executive producer Dick Wolf, "Chicago P.D." is a riveting police drama about the men and women of the Chicago Police Department's elite Intelligence Unit, combatting the city's most heinous offenses - organized crime, drug trafficking, high-profile murders and beyond. Handpicked as the head of the unit, Det. Sgt. Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) has assembled a team of diverse detectives who share his passion and commitment to keeping the city safe. They include Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer), Officer Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati), Officer Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger), Officer Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) and Det. Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos), the newest member of the team with killer instincts, humor and smarts. Desk Sgt. Trudy Platt (Amy Morton) runs a tight precinct with tough love, although she lets her softer side shine through from time to time.

Jay loves Voight like a father as much as Voight loves Jay as a son

Sometimes I feel like Voight doesn't see how much Jay and Ruzek respect him and see him as a father figure. That's why both of them have struggled with giving up Voight

This is the strongest most powerful scene of the whole show. Let's remember one thing before we start judging. It was eternal affairs that got Voight out of prison and made him team leader and promoted him to the rank of sergeant. They could've made Alvin Olinsky or Antonio Dawson team leader so everyone even Voight would stay in line but they didn't. One of the reasons was because Voight, despite his ways, got results. Voight even gave his and his deceased wife's money to families and teenagers who were struggling and on the streets so they could have a better life. Have we even made attention to the whole show because not every bad thing that has happened was Voight's fault. Hailey was angry about what happened to her CI and got Darius Walker killed. The rest of the team had their share of mistakes and flaws. That was all their choices not Voight's. He even told Ruzek that he takes the heat he takes the bullets because he's team leader and so what if he is team leader. He's human and sometimes even the leader begins to collapses. That doesn't mean that he's a bad leader. Jay understands that and that's why he hasn't turned on Voight and doesn't see him as a threat to the whole team or to himself. In most of the episodes the team has followed his example or tried to encourage him to try a different strategy. The people who have tried to get his team to go against him just because they don't trust him have only failed because they either threaten the teams careers or have done acts against the law as well like North in season 9 has bribed multiple law enforcement officers so his brother could avoid charges in the past. Some of the others like Voight's old partner Denny Woods placed evidence at the scene of a case intelligence was working on to setup Voight. The team made their decisions that they could've changed but didn't. Voight didn't chase them or threaten them. Like with the Roy Walton case. Hailey clearly didn't want to go through with what happened and Voight told her that if she wanted to confess then she has got to tell him but instead she said no I don't want that. The team also worked separately instead of together to look for Burgess. Hailey also didn't follow through with telling Voight that she would call it in before the serge that he would take care of it and she had a clear view of what happened that caused her to shoot him which was in self defense. This show is based off of real life events, rewards and consequences and we humans have covered up all lot for lots of people. I've watched other police dramas like the NCIS, CSI and law and order series and one of the things they and others like them have in common with Chicago PD is that they have their own team leaders who soon step in the shadows to achieve justice and to protect their people and cities just like their own version of Voight with their team members reacting the same way and still remaining loyal because they know that they are still needed and good for their cities. That's what I think that Jay is trying to prove here. That despite Voight's actions and the way he does his job either with them or behind their backs he is one of those who would go the extra mile to keep millions safe. When we look at human behavior and how things are here in the real world we can see and show similar behavior and for the same reasons. We all have that opportunity to work as team, to prove ourselves as individuals and to turn our lives around for the greater good. There's good and bad inside all of us. The only difference is which will we choose to shape our lives and what choices will we make because of that way of life. That's what life is all about and like us into can change in a heartbeat, sometimes for the better or worse. Remember good won't always be good and bad won't always be bad, both can change as well as be used for miracles and disasters. As the good Lord once said on to us all "love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute for if you all love those who love you what reward is there in that". Clearly God and Jesus Christ want us to love all people and to forgive them as best we can and not to condemn them because of what they say or do or how they say or do it like Jesus once said on the cross to the people who didn't believe in him and crucified him, " forgive them father for they know not what they do". I am very proud of Jay Halstead.

This reminds me of Season 6 when Jay was asking Hank to let him help him.

Jay isn’t the new Al…Al was old school like Voight. Not to Voight’s extreme, but similar. Jay is letter of the law, Voight is do what needs to be done. They’re Yin and Yang, not sure where the Al comparison comes from.

Voight always treated Jay like a son. Of course Atwater is close too.

Voight may have done questionable things, but he’s a respectable & standup guy. Though he should respect Jay enough to let him make his own decision

Jay wants to pay to pay the price for his actions like a responsible man. Hank shouldn't have to keep taking the fall for his detectives.

Ppl sick of Jay playing by the books but not hating how corrupt Hank is even when is not necessary freaks me out. I mean I love Hank and I do not want him out of the show because he is the heart of it. But I totally get the anger of Jay, he is like an Antonio and the unit has always need that balance. I'm glad that even though he does not like how Hank acts he still recognize him as a good cop and man and he cannot give that up.

Omg that was beautiful 😍. When he was “you don’t think I know that ur good for this city? I wouldn’t be here working with u for 10 years if I didn’t think it was all worth it.” Btw I’m not jay calling him Hank. I’m used to him calling him sarge.

I just hope Voight gives him and Hailey the same respect after what happened with Anna and Jay and Hailey… at the end of the season. And that he understands her reasoning as to why.

Coming back to this only to realize what he said “I know some cases will get me in the end.” and Hank literally got taken in last weeks ep 😭💔

Voight wanting Jay to give him up & he wouldn’t. Him & Hailey got married to not only protect each other but Voight as well. It shows that the intelligence unit truly love each other.

I love them both.
They remind me of Walter and that boy on Breaking Bad. Forgot his name. But they were a duo till the end
