People used to avoid me when I said Optimus would be working in a factory before the first Robotaxi. Now the sweet smell of satisfaction!

Youtube just stopped and removed the Optimus rumors video while I was watching it, lucky I was almost through it. They even removed it from my history list.

What's interesting is the timeline for dojo where it's 100 exflop target is for the end of next year, while Elon's estimate for FSD getting out of beta is the end of this year. From what i've seen from other research It's seems likely that you can create a kind of LLM for the humanoid robot jobs. You get people in costumes with all the sensors completing tasks, the job description is the label. You record everything for training data. The transformers would be trained to find out the outputs for the motors and visuals that would constitute the steps of the tasks for completing the job. This would require enormous compute but if it works you should be able to learn a big amount of jobs. This is the sense of urgency for dojo and the enormous expansion of compute in a 12-16 month period.

With the new open construction for the Model 2, can they wire each composite unit (front, back, structural battery floor, etc) when it is open and easily accessible from all sides, and then connect these together at the final assembly? Much easier than installing wiring after the body is assembled, as they currently do.

Bots doing useful things in assembly lines = COGS decrease
Cybertruck ramp = COGS increase
Super exciting to see who wins that tug o' war next quarter!

Hopefully this has been mentioned but the parts container has a tag of full quantity at start. The computer keeps track of how many assemblies are made so the parts left in the parts container is not a big deal till you get down to a couple parts left and calling for another basket of parts before needed isn't a stretch. But I have been retired for about 5 years. So to me the count of parts left in the basket is simplified. I would hope they have bots building the bots as early as possible.

I expect that at some points Optimus will be creating Youtube videos about Tesla

We had a Smith Corona word processor... I think you could see up to 10 lines of text at a time, edit & reformat it before printing it on the built-in printer

Building large numbers of BOTS before aggressive field testing would be foolish until the outcomes of the testing demonstrate the positives and any weaknesses to improvements required. Without good validation then putting it into scaling up could be embarrassing. Tesla has a responsibility to ensure as it has done with its vehicles including what appears frustrating to others is a small price to pay. Although this is exciting and has so many positives we need to be less in a rush to market.

It makes sense that they are still refining them - they would want to see for instance which parts wear out fastest.
And if they need to make further design changes.
In fact I would expect continual design improvements for some time.

There are images and references to a mechanical man for at least a 100 years.Mostly Sci Fi stuff but it was accepted as coming soon or later.Bots making bots is the next manufacturing process

Dots & Herbert took the video down following technical issues. Dots wrote that they will post again following editing.👍
