Six String Bass with All Fifths Tuning

In the video I explain how I set up my six string bass with an All Fifths Tuning.
The tuning:
Low C (one step above a low B string): 0.132
G : 0.090
D: 0.060
A: 0.040
D: 0.022 (plain steel)
B: 0.015 / 0.016 (plain steel)
I'm not that picky regarding the string gauges, I use what I have.

I used Ecasound for the guitar and Obs for the video recording.

Been tuning this way for years; A/E/B/F#/C#G#

Love it!

Did the same thing with a Cordoba classical guitar using a combination of standard and octave low classical strings from Savarez. From the high end down beginning with the normal high E of a standard 6-string -- E A D G C F. F is half step above low E on a standard bass.

I'm another one who is tuning the bass in fifths. I'm playing on a 34", 5 string bass guitar with the lowest string at C1. I use Pyramid stainless steel roundwound strings, mostly because those are the only ones I could buy individually. After some experimentation, I've settled on 020-040-065-095-126 (top to bottom, E-A-D-G-C).

I've played bass in fourths for some time more than 30 years ago. I only took it up again last year and then in fifths (because of cello). I'm still undecided as to the scale fingerings that suit me best. I started with traditional cello fingerings, but now I'm trying four-notes-per-string. If I'm not mistaken, it's the same as in "Scale, Arpeggio’s and Chord book for the Quintar". On the bass this involves quite a bit more shifting than on the guitar and I'm not yet sure how well it will work out in the end.

You could also use a 17w as the top string

I've been using fifths tuning but from low to high, GDAE, like violin tuning, but it's so tight

Hi. Any advice for using a nylon string classical guitar w/ your F C G D
A E tuning? It appears you used that tuning on your six string
electric guitar, but what low string could one use on nylon classical
for that tuning?

What's the scale length on your bass? I was thinking about buying a baritone guitar to tune in fifths, F1-E4, but I could see the benefit of trying your tuning on a bass. Thanks for the video.

allfifthstuning That's the same tuning you've used on the Baritone Guitar

I’m tuned F0-E3 for a while now I play in a metal band with an eight string guitarist who tunes to drop E so I need that low F

Is this still a running channel? I've been playing guitar for a little over 15 years but never learned any theory, finding this tuning and playing in this tuning really makes me want to learn though. I see the book and it's a little confusing for me at this point, is there anywhere I could learn about this tuning from a beginner's perspective? There's violin, cello and mandolin books but they won't teach anything beyond the 4 strings, so it wouldn't take advantage of the extended range. Thanks for any help you can give me!

I'm considering to purchase a 6 string bass to tune in fifths. My idea is to tune Bb F C G D A. You've tried .018 wound string for the highest note?
