Obviously as a Boro fan he's the best player to ever grace the club (except maybe Higgy) but what's surprising is people recently coming out and saying how good he was. I was young at the time so i wasn't as observant to anything other than goals but my word - he made everything look easy

Just an unbelievably special experience watching this lad in a boro shirt, even on youtube. Was only 4/5 year old when he was here but I remember meeting him and Downing when they were both sat next to me at a hairdressers in Yarm. God.

He said in an interview that he repents himself to not remain playing for Middlesbrough instead of going to Spain. He had everything to joined the Brazilian National Team in France 1998. He was injured in Spain and then, this injury had taken him out of World Cup. 4 years later, he could joined to Brazil and then, he had won the 5th World Cup's title for Brazil.

The first season he played during warm up the opposition players would look and you could see them laughing because he looked so small. They were all for shaking his hand at the end of those games. The best footballer I have ever seen live and his engine never stopped during that first spell he played for us.
