At last, Kansas State proves it can win in alternate uniforms | Daily Delivery

GoPowercat publisher Tim Fitzgerald offers his daily thoughts | Recent history has been clear: When Kansas State tries something different with its traditional 1989 uniforms designed by Bill Snyder, the Wildcats lose. Wearing a white helmet with a purple powercat (as opposed to a gray helmet) and white pants with two purple stripes (as opposed to gray pants with stripes), K-State rallied to win the Rate Bowl, 44-41, proving to all who believe in curses that games can be won in alternate uniforms.

The white helmets and pants looked so much better with the standard purple jersey than the silver. I hope it’s something that they do more often in the future

I would like to see multiply variety of helmets. Purple chrome and flat purple helmets and face mask. Chrome Purple or mirror on the Powercats. You can start off with the same helmet layout, just change the colors. As for lavender, add as a highlight to the stripping already on the helmet &/or use it on the face mask!?! Use a purple to lavender fade on the helmets &/or Powercat like I've used in my XII+ logo.

To honor Bill Snyder call/name the standard uniform "The Bill's". They are only wore a few times a season which makes them special.
That's my opinion, I could be wrong as much as I could be right.

I’m one of the old timers (93-97) and love the classic uniform and Powercat, and I have zero problem with the white helmet and pants. Like it. Lavender? No. White - go for it.

First of all, I agree that the shout out to Dana Dimel was a nice, well deserved touch.

As for alternates, all I ask is that if they are going to use alternate uniforms, do it with a purpose and not just to "be different like everybody else."

As others have said, it should always include the PowerCat as the helmet logo. That is the brand.

First game of the year when it is usually beastly hot, then maybe the all white uniforms make sense. Not in Ireland next year, but first game in Manhattan.

I could also see a special occasion game, such as in a year or two when the Cats play Army, bring back the camo PowerCat on the white helmet.

Then I would let the players choose one road game and maybe a home game to do something different. That's 2 or at most 3 games a year which is enough to say you do it with still having a recognizable base uniform.

If it is limited and strategic, then both the traditional uniforms and the alternate uniforms remain something special.

As one of the more fervent opponents of certain alternate uniforms (such as the ones used in the 2022 Tulane game), I didn't actually object to the ones they used in this game. Rule 1 for me is to always feature the Powercat logo on the helmets. These unis met that requirement, so no complaints! I actually like some ideas, like a "Purple Out" solid purple alternate uni with an oversized shiny silver Powercat on a stripeless purple helmet.

The saving grace for the white helmet, was the purple powercat. I'll give the "alts" a pass for this W. Wow we're talking about "alts", how about reversing the traditionals? Silver purple, and purple silver? I think they'd look absolutely marvelous! (That works better if you use a Ricardo Montalban voice.) The Snyder uniforms are K-State football and should not be altered. An alternate once a year is ok, but messing with the classic look like Prince did in 2007, 2008 is idiotic.

I’m old school and a traditionalist. That being said…if the players love the new look then we need to do that! The old adage applies…I’m not superstitious; only a little stitious!!

I don’t mind occasionally having an alternate, but I don’t want it to be an excuse for a merch dump. I also “color rush” all over uniforms. I would hope that a non-Kstate person quickly channel surfing would be able to identify us vs. “Who is that and what are they wearing?”
