I recently got my first set of Progressive Tension Strings (Misha Preferred Heavy 6) ; I'm looking forward to trying them out!

it's truly mind boggling how no manufacturer is doing equal tension strings, or optimized for a drop tuning. They would only offer e.g. with the low 3 strings being thicker, why? Only the lowest needs to be thicker for a drop tuning

Adding heavier gauges to the the low end with Juggernaut pups is risky. Chtulu wakes and neighbours complain that their womenfolk jiggle.
Also, walls crumble.

Horizon, as a user of string things it would greatly help us if we had a custom set option and a tension calculator in the future.

Or, what TheStringSource does and let’s you know if it’s SLT/LT/MD/Heavy for whatever tuning you’re using.

Of course, that would be far in the future. A lot of R&D would need to go into doing that. A suggestion though.

I just really want a set optimized for Drop A but with a wound third. 12-60/62 with a wound third would be perfect

is this coated one? since some of guitarists has a sweaty fingers like me, would love to make this an everyday practicing string, not just for a live or recording performance, since i'm just a bedroom guitarist 😁

Hey @Horizon Devices any chance of getting a more reasonable pricing on shipping outside of US? I wanted 3 packs of string for 30$, and would need to pay 20$ on shipping. Or somehow have availability in EU too?

On the day you offer coated strings like Elixir do, I will become a client.

How can I get as low as some of the periphery songs (Reptile for example is drop G) on a 6 string 25.5"? The "Misha Preferred" 58s aren't enough, are they?

3:55 when you realize you can play reptile better than Misha itself 😂

The aspect ratios change faster than they change their strings

I must say their heavy 7 set for drop G is amazing. I was on nyxl 64’s but ut always sounded a little too scooped, especially on the low G, the horizon strings have more mids, which just sounds
Fuller, the nyxl’s are a little brighter but the chugs sounds better on horizon.

I'm guessing they're manufactured by Dunlop like the pedals

I would say, the Horizon Devices strings are made for riffing, not for shredding! Too hard and too tight for bends and vibratos. Currently, my set of 6 boxes of Progressive Tension strings is collecting dust.

Blues guitarist have been playing drop tuning and open tunings for centuries with no gripes. What is it about metal guitarists that feel the need to over Engineer something that essentially is an art form not a science. So many "snake oil" products are rammed down people's throats and people think that it will make them sound like a certain artist or make them a better player when the reality is that you will always be you regardless of what you play and in 99% of cases, the listener doesnt give a toss what strings you are playing cos they all sound the same once you plug them into any signal chain
