I heard about this thing on Pinterest that you can do to never have to shave your legs again! You mix one part baking soda with 2 parts coffee and rub your legs with it daily for a week and it's supposed to make the hair go away? I don't know. Could you test it out possibly? Thanks! There's also natural brown sugar, which is very different in texture. Not that I think it would change the outcome of the hack. haha 
btw, I think the nail polish jar hack would work even better if you used the kind of sponge they use in the pin? just cause it's softer much more similar to the ones they use in commercial jars. :)
